Give it to me Raw

Hello all, I apologize if something I'm about to write is offensive to anyone.

I've been dealing with disordered body image and eating habits for my entire life. When I was 15 I developed anorexia, which turned into bulimia and binge eating when I was 17-18.
At that time I also started to smoke to deal with my anxiety around food. At first it was just experiemental, but you know how it goes.. I am 19 now and I smoke around 12 cigarettes daily.

About 4 months ago I stumbled into Raw Foods. It all made perfect sense to me and I started eating more and more raw foods. I've shaped my eating since then to fit the 80/10/10 principles, and I'm feeling happier than ever. It seems like all my desire to binge has vanished along with my depression and anxiety. I never dreamed that I could let go of those things so easily. I don't feel any cravings for my formerly worst enemies - bread and candies. I've even gotten around my controlling behaviour and counting calories since I've really started appreciating my bodys needs and thinking of food as fuel, not some kind of dark demon it was for me such a long time.

Now that I'm at this point I've realized how stupid and hazardous my smoking habit is. The only thing keeping me back is weight gain.
I know it is far better to gain those extra pounds than be slave for those cancer sticks for the rest of my life.
But I consider myself a lost case, I'm at a healthy weight at the moment, but I still feel ridiculously conscious about my body. Yes, I go to theraphy reguralry. It's just such a scary thing to think myself gaining any weight. It really get's me an anxiety attack to even think about it.

I am sorry if I sound superficial. I just need to know if I will be able to keep my weight stable by contiuning to eat low fat raw diet after I quit. Do you think I should count my calories? I was planning on adding some extra exercise as well.

I appreciate all comments and advise.

No calcounting. NO. Do more exercise, that will make you feel so happy about your body, because its the only one you have. Im 19 too, and struggled with those "things" when i was younger too(strange). If you want to do more exercise and be healthy, you have too quit smoking, at least less cancer sticks;) Your lungs can`t handle hard exercising if they have struggle with damage and smoke while they are working. Then you will never get in shape, because its hard to continue the exercise when you can`t finish the run or workout. This is self-experience. I was a smoker for two years. Then i cut it out. No i feel like im in my best shape ever. mentaly and physicaly. If you`ve been thru anorexia and bulimia, your body have to build herself up again. Be fresh, cleaned, and at the start again. The exhausted ones can`t handle what healthy bodys can handle. The dark demon your talking about, it`s still your brain. He is just exhausted and damage and confused. My brain was shrinking. Isn`t that scary? Raw food for me is like a way into myself, feeling the intimity between brain and body. Make them work together and be like yin and yang. Be balanced and harmonic.
What im saying is (bad english, i know), what your body AND your brain feel together is what you are going to decide as a way to happiness. Isn`t that what we want?

btw, meditation is gooood. ;)

I don`t know if you`ve been to doctors who have said things you should follow to gain weight or something like that? If: Don`t follow ALL advices from doctors when it comes to this area. They can`s understand what you`ve been true if they haven`t been there. Follow a diet which tastes good and isn`t stressful. Don`t push yourself too hard, and be kind to your body. Then you will maybe see what is important in YOUR life....

Good luck!

Honestly, I think you will definitely be able to keep your weight stable. If anything, the lack of nicotine and all those chemicals in cigarettes will likely make you feel better.
The problem you might come across: While you are quitting, your body will want to find something to replace the cigarettes. If you give in and replace it with eating more, then yes, you will gain weight.
Instead, every time you have a craving, do 10 crunches. If you still have a crazing, do more exercise. Get out of the house where there wont be any raw food around for you to eat.

Trust me on this! It will work! :D Congrats on wanting to quit! And Godd Luck :D

I was eating a no fruit high-fat diet for a long time and was crazy skinny. Since starting 811 over a year ago, I've gained 15 lbs and am at 4% body fat. It really helps to strength train, as the only wight you really want to put on is muscle mass. When I first started 811 it was really helpful to track my calories using the cron-o-meter. Eventually you can ditch it, but it helped me a lot.

I actually gained weight on a no sweet fruit diet, because all I could eat was seed cheese, crackers and veggies. and nuts

Thank you all so much for your support!!
I am going to go with my instincts, after all I know this is the right thing to do. I just wish it would be easier to just ignore all those "crazy" thoughts in my head :/

The skinniest raw foodist girls in Miami are all 811

I don't think those girls are eating 10 bananas per meal are they? They probably only get about 600 calories a day eating a couple pieces of fruit per meal. Have you asked them specifically Thindera what they are eating on a daily basis?

P.S. I have a hard time sleeping without some nightcap food too. I was addicted to bananas and almond butter before bed, but I'm trying to phase it out by freezing bananas in the morning and then making raw ice cream at night.

hi stacey, I was doing Hatha Yoga, that involves asanas, prayanama, bandha and mudras. Apart from yoga we were taught Anatomy, Psychology, Philosophy etc., so that the students of this course could teach yoga and take it as a profession later.
