Hey Nature's Mark - I do love the work of Dr. David Hawkins. Especially his book Power vs. Force which contains the Map of Human Consciousness (a powerful, portal-opening continuum). I've seen him speak and met him and his wife a few times here in Sedona. He's a very nice guru!
Now adaya, when it comes to authentic gurus, I just take the medicine knowledge, say thank you, pay the bill and off I go! No need to join a harem, sign over your assets or drink the Koolaide! (Not that Dr. H. has or will ever engage in any of that nonsense.) I was actually referring to spiritual gurus with this post, but I know there are some raw food gurus running around, too.
I like the idea of seeing myself like a cell .. and that its important in building myself to experience the other cells around me and build them up knowing the whole will function more efficiently in doing so.

I never even understood why most of those raw educators are called gurus?? I don't see them that way, I read and listen and learn and take on board what rings true and disregard what doesn't, it's quiet simple really......
I´ll sign this without thinking... so true Mica ;) By this approach, all the "battles" 811 vs superfoods, Wolfe vs. Graham and so on are gone... nice to read it. Nobody carries my truth, they are only source of information.

You are funny :-)
Every time I see another "guru" waltz into town to speak about the raw food diet (and sell their latest book, I am sure), I keep thinking to myself "who the hell are these people?"
So I think I will only read dead raw-food authors from now on. hahaha.
I have always been really creeped out by the cult of personality. There are people I admire and I learn a great deal from but I don't worship them in the way it seems so many people do.
Also, and this isn't limited to the raw food community, but many of these people are just pitchmen and don't know as much as they are credited with. If you are going to admire someone for their knowledge make sure they have it. There are often times I became interested in a subject through the knowledge of another person that I thought was an expert. Certainly they knew more at that time than I did; however, after I got into the topic it became apparent they did not know as much as I thought they did.
There is one idolized, and deemed prominent raw food pitchman that promotes and sells foods that are known to be neurotoxins. Now, there are foods I eat that are neurotoxins because they also have positive properties that I want, but I am aware of the risks/benefits and made a decision. I am not sure how your "guru" on a health issue is suppose to sell a product and not disclose the downside. That is why I tend to look at them all as pitchmen until I can determine if they are actually educators.
One way I decide how much to invest in a teacher, author, guru, whatever...is how often they say things like:
"I don't know for sure."
or...
"wow..I never thought of that before!"
When they keep talking as if they have nothing to learn...it becomes rather obvious that they have been consumed by ego to the determent of their expertise . They can still impart useful knowledge, but you have to be suspicious of true motive.
I have also tried Nvey Eco's eyeliner in black! I love it! I got it off Macys.com it's very hard to find it in stores a lot of Macy's stores don't sell it.
I see him stuck, and not doing anything about it he hasn't tried. In that I mean dropping the processed crap, being positive, and trying some fruit and exercise instead of binge drinking on the weekend or sleeping when hes not working. He has VITI...
I made this back in February and yes it's all raw. It's dehydrated sprouted crackers from Rainbow, with cashew cheese, tomatoes, pesto, avocado and arugula.
I would ask him if he is interested in making a dietary change and if he shows interest then that's great! If not, be a shining example of health and hopefully one day he will come around. He has to do it when he is ready otherwise he will feel it...
