Give it to me Raw

Me and my little brother are both on a raw food diet and we both absolutely love it. He is a big believer in cleansing and detoxing.
He has fasted, and done a Dr. Gillian colon cleanse, I haven't. He suggest that it is pivotal in ridding the body of debris from your previous lifestyle.

Am I missing out?

I have fasted for long periods which greatly played a part in healing for me and I really enjoyed the time and fet so energized after the 3rd-4th day. I could work harder than ever by the 6th-7th day on water alone. We are all individuals so some may like this and others not. Personally it works for me.
I was born on a tuesday so every tuesday I have only water.
This is the original common sense sabbath day that ancient cultures practised before the heirachy changed things. To celebrate and give thanks for thier life but also its a great way to keep toxic overload out.

Anyway. Give it a go...let us know how it goes if ya do.

I was raw for about a year before I did any kind of cleansing. My first was a gallbladder cleanse, then I proceeded from there. I had acne when I first went raw and I noticed that it lessened after the gallbladder cleanse (an acupuncturist told me that I broke out right along my stomach meridian)...

I think fasts are great. They allow your body to process at a higher level because it can actually do it's healing work without being interrupted by food.

Honestly, when I felt the most difference was when I started colon hydrotherapy. I waited until I had been raw for two years to do it. Why? I dunno. Raw wasn't popular here yet - still isn't huge, we have about 50 in our meetup group - and I hadn't heard much about colon hydro before, or if I had, I didn' pick up on it because I wasn't ready for it, who knows. Then, I heard a lil about it one day and decided to check and see if we had a colon hydrotherapist here in town, and we sure did =D So, I went and signed up.

It's a great way to rid yourself of really old toxins in your body in a relatively short amount of time (my CHT advised 6 treatments, two on concurrent days for a period of 3 weeks, then probably doing the same thing next spring) and in a safe manner. Who wants to keep all of that crap - heh heh, literally - inside?

I really wish I had done it sooner, however, I was fine not having done it. My energy level definitely increased afterwards, though =D

I've done several bowel cleanses but for most people they're not necessary. One or two colon hydrotherapy sessions may be beneficial if you're coming off a SAD diet or have severe constipation.

Really the most important thing is to have all the strains of bacteria necessary to have a healthy colon since that is what takes care of cleaning it. I recommend using a probiotic superfood daily for several months. We have several kilos of bacteria in our bowels so you can imagine if you have candida, it takes a while for this to reverse itself. The good bacteria need to crowd out the bad. It's not just a matter of killing them off!

Green smoothies or well chewed salads, sprouts, etc will supply enough cellulose for the bacteria to eat once they're in the bowels and then you don't need to supplement any more. UNLESS: you eat junk food, sugary stuff, take antibiotics, hang out in chlorine (pool, hot tub, unfiltered shower, etc). Then you will be killing off the bacteria quickly.

The one I use ensures that the body and brain get enough amino acids and contains 13 strains of bacteria. I've attached a file for you. I would suggest listening to the formulator speaking about it since it will give you more education about the bowels and bacteria than just about any other source.

Mucoid Plaque layers your intestines from your anus to your tongue in some cases. Just the thought of it makes me feel the need to get it out of my body. Of course it blocks the small intestines form absorbing all the nutrients from your food. You could be the healthiest eater in the world yet still lack the nutrition levels you think you are getting because of all the plaque inside of you.

I forgot to mention one important thing. Fasting will drive candida out of the bowels and deeper into the body where it is much more difficult to deal with. Proceed with extreme caution!

Candida needs sugar to survive. Fasting creates an absence of sugar and the candida go into starvation mode and go seeking food. Fasting is fine once the bacteria is properly balanced but not before. Juicing is a more mild and safer way to fast until full health is restored.

Sharon,

Where did you read that? I have never heard that before.

Take care

I used to work for a holistic doctor. MD with TCM, homeopathy, energy medicine, light therapy, etc practice. I'm a nutritional consultant. I learned that particular thing from her. Never really read it anywhere else but if you do an informal survey of people who have systemic candida you will find that they have all either done the typical candida diet or have fasted.

Doug Graham claims to eliminate candida while eating fruit. Hearing that was news to me too and I'd love to hear if anyone has experience with that.

It's all about balance. Increase the good bacteria and it will take over. Candida is always there so it's just a balancing act really. Needs to be about 15% but is more like 85% in the average person.

Thank you for your positive words everyone. I've been raw for 8 months and it was simply dissappointing to have gone through such a binge! Besides I felt physically awful! Onward we march from here! lol
