So, the more I embrace this raw vegan thing.
The more conscious I am about drinking alcohol.
I don't drink til I pass out. But the cats at the liquor store know me.
My friends know I can hold my liquor
And the thought of not drinking makes me sad.
I realize that raw and alcohol don't mix.
I want to live sober.
How do I conquer this without going to AA
That's not me
I have gone weeks where I don't drink at all
But when I do, it's automatic
Not something I even think about really
Go to dinner
Order wine
Go to club
Grande Marnier or Rum
Go to friends house
Take a bottle of something
Chilling alone at home
Watch a movie
Eat
Drink
It's a part of my life.
I told one of my drinking buddies
That I am going sober
Initially he said that that's cool as long as you have a drink with me every now and then
?????
Is there anyone here who has given up alcohol
In exchange for sobriety through the raw food lifestyle?

Hello. Have you ever heard of Moderation Management? It is for people who wish to drink moderatly. Maybe it is for you. It is an interesting read, either way. It is about breaking habits and making drinking less important in your life.http://www.moderation.org/
My friend Joel used a daily green juice intake (16 to 20 ounces a day) to help shift his internal environment to a more alkaline state. This helped him get over his drug addition which included alcohol.
Alcohol is quite acidic and it makes your blood stream such. So when you start moving in the alkaline direction, your body naturally starts to reject the feeling, and even the taste, of alcohol.
Thank you so much for the information. I drink a lot too & I'm trying to figure it out ... cause I don't really want to quit either, but I live mostly fruity too & yah it's different living with both. I'm excited to keep learning about it though!
Yeah, but I don't want to quit! :-) I mean of course ideally! But not in my mind or my life, I like it. I'll have to take the path of moderation & see what goes from there. But thanks!

Kudzu is a really good idea! I forgot- it cuts alcohol cravings. Also, there is an excellent product called Himalaya LiverCare that you could take a big dose of before and after you have a drink (if you do) and it will help protect your liver:)
Once you begin to go raw you are going to notice profound changes in your state of well being in general, you won't have to try they will all come naturally. Which is a beautiful thing, because once this natural awakening starts to happen maybe then you can start identifying with the times you drink and why? Ever ask yourself, hey why am I choosing to have a drink right now? What does it do for me? Do I have to have this drink to feel.. blank.?
See where the drink serves it's purpose.
Notice you said, I like to drink when I go to club, a friends house, dinner, movie..
Start to become "aware" of your drinking, instead of allowing it to be a habit.
I think you will soon notice what the drinking is truly covering up for you in your life.
I remember when I use to drink it was to "feel" right inside. I couldn't go out with friends and just be myself, I couldn't sit alone with myself. I needed a substance to alter that, so I could feel okay.
Next time you take a drink.. be the observer of yourself drinking so to speak. Observe yourself with the drink and how it makes you feel.
The sadness of not drinking anymore is probably the sense of "self" that is identifying with the woman who drinks, once you may have to give that woman up.. who will you be? will people still care for you? want to be around you? will you still be funny? etc..
Who knows non of this could make any sense or help, but if at all it did, I am glad. By the way thank you for sharing your honesty is appreciated.
I think that is a good switch, if you want to "switch" but I think it's better to start to identify with why we use substances to stimulate or suppress, not just convert to another form of it.

Can't stand stevia, just tastes wrong, chemical or something. There was a time when I didn't go a day without Agave but I don't have a need for it anymore.
