Give it to me Raw

Hey you raw mamas!!!
I am going to a baby shower this weekend and was wondering what cool things I should get as a gift. Its for a coworker and everyone always jokes about me being all hippie-ish and raw, so I want to get her something that will reflect that. I've never had any babies so I need some ideas about what new moms need. Any suggestions?

I'd suggest ordering a handmade toy from Etsy, but it's a bit too late for that now! You might want to try googling to see if there are any hippish stores near you, they might sell kid/baby stuff. Also, Whole Foods sells cute stuff for kids and babies. :)

Organic, luxurious skin care for the new mummy to be

A nice sling, as in baby carrier

A HUGE fruit basket

Massage voucher in a nice holistic place for after she had the baby and for when she could do with some pampering. Offer to babysit too while she's there, she will love you eternally for this one ;)

oo that's a good idea - mommy/baby pampering, or a gift certificate for a mommy and baby yoga session?

thanks for the ideas guys!! i'm definitely going to get some organic baby things but i think she'll get alot of that. i think the pampering idea is amazing, but unfortunately we work in a day spa so she can get all that for free already. for any other mom though, i think that would TOTALLY be the way to go.

i guess i should also mention that the mom- to-be is very allergic to most fruits...she breaks out in hives and her throat swells up really bad.

i really like the idea of mom and baby yoga, i'll have to look into that.

what are some things new moms need that you don't really think about? this baby shower is going to be giant and i am so worried i am going to get the same thing as someone else.

She's allergic to fruuuuit?? Oh my god, how is that even possible? Poor lady....

Day spa ey?!....Now I'm a bit jealous ;)

How about a big pile of muslin cloths? I know it doesn't sound that exciting but very practical. I went through so many personally in the first few months and beyond. And it's so much better to use those than disposable tissues all the time.

A cloth diaper service and some talc-free baby powder from Burt's Bees.

Hm... sling, awesome bag (for a diaper bag), cloth diapers, homemade baby food making supplies...

One of my friends got me a really awesome bag and filled it with things that I could use for my daughter. You could do that and fill it with natural type things (cloth diapers, coconut oil, bpa free sippy cups, clothes/bibs of organic materials, homeopathic creams/medicines for kids, etc.)

See if there is an educational kids toy store in your area. I second the handmade toy thing. I love it when people get my daughter handmade, wooden toys.

audrey you just gave me an idea. the mama isn't too into cooking/ food preparation...what if i offered as a gift to home make her baby food for a few months? is that silly?

I would <3 that gift, personally. You should. It is easy to do, but I was always too caught up with other things (naturally, with a baby), that it was not so convenient! Great idea!

You can even make her some for an extended period of time by freezing them in ice cube trays (then remove and continue to freeze in some sort of container or bag). Then all she has to do is let them thaw. Wait till she will need them though so that they aren't stored for too long.

They're only $23?! I like the black one.

I got one of her slings for my first one and wasn't that impressed with it. I gave it away and bought a different one. Her book was very inspiring for me at the time though, she's awesome!! :)

You can always ask a produce dept. employee at Whole Foods to cut one open so you can try it before you waste your money. It's store policy to let people sample things:)
