I am in the process of transitioning my family into the raw lifestyle. As a working mom, I find it helpful to have certain staples in the pantry and always on hand. Even as a vegan for many years, it was convenient to have quick snack options and items that I could grab in a hurry to make a quick meal.
I'm sure a few of you will recommend fruit and veggies to keep on hand. However, I always keep a lot of fresh produce for juicing, smoothies and salads. I’m curious about what staples or snacks you keep in the pantry?
I've been in love with raw uncooking so my pantry is full of raw food preparation items... however, your pantry may be different. The best treats are probably fruits, but some variety may be raw food trail mix, chocolates, dried fruits, nori, etc. I notice you're from New York, the center of the raw food universe. You can find a TON of raw treats at Westerly's Natural Market, One Lucky Duck, Bowery Whole Foods, etc.
*my raw pantry...
-nori (for quick sushi- stuff rolls with salad)
-almond butter (great in celery with raisins on top)
-dried fruits (raisins, apple, banana, mango, medjool dates, etc)
-to-go treats? (trail mix, raw chocolates, raw food bars, raw cookies, etc)
-organic nuts (cashew, walnut, pecans, almonds, macadamia, pine)
-organic seeds (pumpkin, flax, sesame)
-nut mylk bags
-bee pollen
-honey
-spices/herbs (carob, cacao, cinnamon, apple pie spice, pumpkin pie spice, vanilla bean, black pepper, italian seasoning, cayenne, mexican seasoning, etc)
-nutritional yeast
-coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil
-tea bags
*in refridgerator... (things that last for weeks/1 month)
lol you and a raw crew should come over for "clean pantry" party! I try to put the foods I shouldn't have daily on the highest kitchen shelf so I can't reach without grabbing a ladder lol. It works because I'm a midget lol I don't have such a variety of nuts and seeds in the pantry, but any combo can come in handy for a pseudo Ani Phyo Raw Apple Pie to feed a film crew.
Everyone thanks for your help! I also spent a little time on the Living Tree website and decided to order certain items in bulk like raw tahini, almond butter, sun dried olives and raw olive oil, since I've read that these are staples in so many recipes. I also plan on keeping unpasteurized miso in the fridge for making quick soups.
This along with your suggestions will be a great start. I'll also checkout Westerly's, I already shop at Wholefoods for my organic produce.

I watch a lot of TV. For a normal person, it's probably too much, but for an aspiring TV writer, it's probably not enough. I watch Top Chef, Project Runway, Heroes, Gossip Girl, Greek, Biggest Loser, Glee, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, and Bon...
