I just found out I was banned from 30 Bananas a Day without any warning or without an explanation.

Has this happened to anyone else?

They were aware that members of this site were "spying" and felt threatened, or maybe they were just down to reconfigure, I noticed a new color scheme today.

Who is spying? ON whom and why? Maybe they are reading us talk about them, which isn't really spying...because it's a public forum.

Rawzilla:I have no doubt it's dangerous, and the reactive behavior I witness here is connected to imbalances caused by fruit sugar.

I just wanted to comment on this. It is my personal experience that I feel mellow on 811 and if I eat cooked tend to get moody but just wanted to say...

I do not think it is the "imbalances" of fruit that cause reactive behaviour. I think it is simply that 811 attracts extremists and elitists. It might simply be that this type of personality gets attracted to such a diet. I also believe that if you are hot headed you will be hot headed regardless of diet - I mean you don't suddenly change into a mature, well mannered individual because you changed your diet. I still struggle with stress...I can easily get stressed - its better than it was before I went raw but it hasn't miraculourly vanished. I am just able to be more rational about things but I believe that is because I have become more conscious and more present as opposed to the diet itself.

I tend to avoid arguments, drama but some of it is so hard to avoid. It is such a shame because the raw food world is so small anyway and this stuff really is so unnecessary.

I have come to accept that not everyone shares the same views on me in anything, not just in diet....I don't really mind it. I like it. It means I keep challenging my own beliefs.

I am saddened by all this 30bad and I have always felt something "not quite right" with the site but it fortunately isn't the only site out there. I will continue to post on there though and avoid drama but feel more at home at others.

What's worse? Well my boyfriend is high raw but he never wants to go to meets with or meet other raw foodists because from what he sees on these sites he just thinks its over the top and ridiculous over something like diet. Food is just food at the end of the day. We are lucky in that we are able to choose what we eat.

Thanks, Irrevocable. I appreciate your perspective and agree with a lot of what you've shared, particularly the divisiveness within an already fringe community.

Where I depart is the idea that the food we eat doesn't affect or even alter our personality. I absolutely disagree with that. I was among several others I met who really changed emotionally (and "reactively") when I went on high fruit. Why wouldn't food affect our mood? Isn't that in part why we're raw?

In ancient traditions of healing, certain foods are grounding or expanding, better for one personality/energy type or another.

When you consider systemic candidiasis (usually resulting from diet), depression and anxiety are very often a factor, because the endocrine system is almost always compromised with that illness. Hormones get thrown out of whack.

I think the Standard American Diet numbs people, and I do agree with you that we raw foodies are a more outspoken and passionate group: We are awake--and it is a haven for me in that respect. People here are reading the news behind the news, and are really searching for truth "out there" and within, as well spiritual bliss. Many of us will not compromise with the Matrix and its illusions.

And that is why I continue to state my truth, even if it's not popular here.

Yes, we're more fringe and "fired up" in many ways; however, the issue I'm addressing here is mental illness as a result of food choices--in this case high fruit; however, there are other ways to sicken the brain through diet too, of course. I think it's healthy to offer diverging views, free of personal attacks.

i feel great as a fruitarian. i also respect people's choices. my brain is healthy.

it makes sense to me to eat only the things that taste good to me all by themselves with no spices, salts, sweeteners and so on.

but this is only my truth :)

So Rawzilla, you are opposed to a high fruit diet, but what about a diet higher in greens but very low fruit? You don't have to answer this one but, if you don't mind me asking, what kind of diet do you currently eat or what has worked for you?

This whole raw foodism deal confuses me so much. But I really wanted your opinion since you know nutrition and your take on eating raw seems different than any other person I've come into contact with (online).

Hi Marieq,

I also have felt very confused about food, and even more so after falling into pitfalls on raw. When I went 100% raw I thought I'd be healthier than ever, but I got sicker than ever instead! But the reason I got sick was consistent with the same reason it had been at other times--I was eating yeast-fueling foods. When I went raw, I had decided that as long as the sugar was from a fruit, I would be fine. Wrong!

So to answer your questions, I think high greens and low fruit is good. In fact, I think it's great. Right now I am following The Body Ecology Diet, which is based on the ecology of our colon, and healing from excess yeast. There is a lot of flexibility in the diet as your colon heals. The emphasis is on starving yeast and recolonizing the colon with healthy bacteria, which means eating a lot of raw, cultured food and mostly non-starchy veggies. There is also flexibility for vegetarianism, although I'm not a vegetarian. Food combining is also critical.

I am familiar with the B.E.D. I have read the book and felt that I didn't want to go through the whole thing. I don't know Donna Gates personally, but have communicated with her.

I'm not certain that fermented foods is the best way to colonize the colon. Plus on that diet there is no way I could consume enough calories (3000-4000) to train and race the way I do.

I agree, Ann, it is very hard to do this diet. But for me it's worth it at this time. It is really helping me.

You probably know then that fruit is fine on the B.E.D. in the later stages--it just depends on where you are with colon health/digestion and candida. It sounds like you are pretty healthy, and you're burning off all the sugar running. Donna Gates very often says to adjust your diet to your needs, within the framework of the B.E.D.

How did you communicate with her, if you don't mind my asking?

Reply to This

Mainly via email, a few short questions regarding fermenting foods and the like. I respect her. She used to order food from the same farmer I used here in South Florida, when she was down here. She lives in Atlanta most of the time.

Oh, that's cool. I'm glad to hear good things about her.

I really want to go to the B.E.D. restaurant down there! Like you and I said, the diet is so hard and limited, and I would love to just sit down and be served some B.E.D.-friendly gourmet meal! I'm not very adventurous in the kitchen, so my meals have been very, um, simple.

Unfortunately, my dogs were microchipped before I got them. I haven't decided what to do about it yet. Really don't want them to have surgery to take them out.
