haha dehydrators are fun :) honestly i really only used mine like the first six months i was raw or high raw and havent used it a ton since. and it was kind of off and on, some recipes turned out awesome and some less than so. experiment i guess :)
Have no fear, nothing to it but to do it. I'll help you out with a little direction for the maiden voyage.
slice kiwi's with the skin on. Like candy but way better.
bananas massages and split into thirds lengthwise are super good too.
shredded / blended apples, ground almonds, raisins, cinnamon, agave is a good cookie
flax seeds soaked in water for 30 minutes. Then add processed tomatos, peppers and maybe a little garlic as a flavoring, mix up and spread out on teflex sheet -
Now you have a dehydrator full of fruit, cookies and flax crax, you'll be a seasoned vet before you know it. Remember to drink extra water or you'll be keeping your dry food within a little longer than you want.

dude - me too! The ridiculous thing is I'm spending cash on dried mangoes and lara bars when I could make this stuff and better at home. Okay - deep breath - just do it...yes!
I am afraid of mine too.... but mostly it is becuase it takes so darn long to dry something, that I have to leave for work or something before it's done, then spend all day worrying if the house burnt down, lol! I used it a lot in the beginning, like Rande, just to experiment with all the different recipes, now I only bring it out once every couple of months.. like if I am going away for a couple of days, roadtrips, or just a special treat to impress my family with.
Here's a yummy veggie burger recipe:
1c. ground sunflower seeds (grind in food processor)
1 c. ground flax (grind in coffee mill)
2 stalks celery, finely chopped
1 c red bell, diced
1/4 c onion, diced
1 tsp salt
2 tsp oregano
1/2 c water
stir all ingredients together, form into patties & dehydrate for 1-2 hours! yum!!
oh how funny!! i just searched the site for veggie burger recipes, and this is the first one that came up! guess i'll just stick to my own tried & true!! ;)

I hear you. I've had mine for months - I've tried making 2 things, neither of which came out well (onion bread - blechhh). I need to be brave and try something else. Let me know how it goes! :)

Yeah, never much thought at the time though as it was late at night and had been about 40 degrees here. Oh well. I am so familiar with the way the Engish and Irish talk that I just assume everyone is the same with the kiwis and Aussies.

RGG,
the belly-centered symptoms that most people (mistakenly) call hunger usually pass within 2-3 days. Your body is not hungry while fasting because it gets all of its needs met from its own reserves.
Weeds, Outrageous Fortune (great kiwi comedy) Kath and kim (aussie) the office (UK) United states of Tara. There are alot really when I think about it. There are alot of great tv writers out there now but I am not into reality tv shows.

Another way to think about this is that "frugivore" is a word used by scientists to describe any animal that eats a fruit-based diet (including virtually all of the anthropoid primates). "Frugivore" has an accepted scientific definition. "Fruitari...
Hi Priyam and RGG,
Even blending them is a big step down in quality from eating them whole, for a number of reasons. The pre-chewing argument -- often heard -- doesn't really carry much weight as the benefit of chewing in the mouth is that any re...
Try this. I found out about it when I worked at Jubbs longevity. There is absolutely no aftertaste and a bottle lasts forever. I've been using it for years. Lucky Vitamin has amazing prices on many things too.
