How do you know when your durian is ripe?

They are supposed to open on their own when they are ripe. I don't know if a frozen one will do this though.

Actually, I bought a frozen monthong a few months ago and as it defrosted in my fridge it opened up a bit. I can't seem to find anything but frozen ones. :( I want fresh. But I do know that when its ready u don't even need a knife. just find the seams of the segments, wrap your fingers around the thorns and pull apart to reveal the golden goodness!

yea let it thaw overnight or for the day and as soon as its soft enough to get inside..hit it up!!
