or how do you keep yourself from eating late at night? I work night shifts and get off work around midnight. It's so hard not to come home and binge when I've been working for 7 hours straight. I eat before my shift starts, but i still get hungry during my shift. No breaks, either :/
aside from late night bingeing, I feel like I have no limits when it comes to food quantity. I'm hungry and then I eat and before I know it, I've over-eaten and my tummy is all bloated and uncomfortable and all I want to do is lay down.
OOO meridith you just reminded me Black, green , white and oolong tea is great for killing your appetite
In the book "how green smoothies saved my life" it talks about how tea gets rid of your appetite and speeds up your metabolism
It is a powerhouse when combined with green smoothies
i use to chronically overeat,as my body was searching for more nourishment, when i ate 811...now i have changed my diet,i have absolutely no need or desire to overeat...i feel so nourished on every level....xo
read it after i posted the msg :) it's funny how on paper 811 sounds the best, but it doesnt work for sooo many people. i tried really hard to make it work for me, but eventually had to realize that with my health issues, my body needs more fat/protein and waaayyyy less sugar
yup too right Kathryn, too right...i was falling apart, bleeding gums inflammed gums, blocked ears, blood sugar crashes, adrenal fatigue, cranky pants all the time, etc etc oh and not sleeping well either...811 good for me,nope! maybe good for others not me :)
i've been cleansing lately, but in between the cleanses i eat way too many nuts (i'm addicted, once I start I can't stop), green smoothies w/ avo, spinach, lemon, coconut oil, green powder, hemp seeds, cucumber, stevia powder, cinnamon. I try to take a smoothie with me to work so i can drink through the night, but even then I'm still hungry. salads w/ various vegetables - dressing of olive oil, lemon, namo shoyu, garlic. green apples. try to avoid sugary fruits. I try to juice every day, but it doesn't usually work out. I juice maybe 3 or 4 times a week - beets, carrots, cucs, greens, etc.
I think my issue is too much fat and eating late at night.
are you exercising enough Jas?Are you sleeping enough? Are you hydrated enough?its all a balance not just the food side of things....
Start a food diary and write down everything you eat...get some more books, read up on different ways of eating raw,and experiment, this isnt working for you,so change it,and see how you go?:)

I used to binge quite a bit when I first tried raw. I wouldnt worry too much about it, its probably your body and mind just getting adjusted to a new lifestyle. The cravings gradually diminish over time, at least they have for me.
I have been addicted to dates all this week though : )
Hey as long as youre eating lots of fruit n veggies, how bad can it be really? It will get easier and your appetite will probably level out eventually.
Hi Loren. Thanks for that info. I often hear Naturopaths comment on how children with autism are often lacking in sodium and reccomend increasing their salt intake. I have a son on the autism spectrum and he craves salt. He drinks green smoothies ...

Hi Nicole,
We don't need any salt at all, and in fact it's always toxic to the body. Salt is a rock, and no matter how small we smash it, it is an inorganic mineral which our bodies cannot really use. Organic sodium is needed by ever single cell ...
