Give it to me Raw

I've been reading the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali (translation by TKV Desikachar), and what's really been hitting me hard is the emphasis on "saucam" or cleanliness.

I know we all try very hard to keep our bodies clean by eating whole/raw/organic/vegetarian food, and by exercising and what not, but what I'd like to know what you do to keep your mind clean.

What do you do to actively clean the mind?

What do you avoid to keep the mind clean?

What don't you avoid?

I'll start the conversation off.

I practice Ashtanga Yoga on a regular basis.

This means I meditate, practice asanas, study texts, practice pranayama, maintain a vegetarian diet, and avoid books/tv/websites that I feel would add to mental clutter.

Also, in times of stress, I always take time to step back and examine my situation. This helps me to realize the triviality of whatever is causing me stress and disconnects me from the situation.

Seems to me that you practice Ashtanga Yoga all week. There's a lot of confusion in America, I find, about what Ashtanga Yoga is. Remember, it's not just a physical practice (asana), but includes the practice of behavior (yama), restraint (niyama), pranayama, pratyahara (restraint of senses), dharana (focus), dhyana (single-pointedness), and samadhi (ultimate realization). So as long as your doing things like meditation, offering gratitude, being aware of attachment, then you are practicing yoga. No bending or twisting necessary.

I haven't had a television for almost 9 years, after this long without regular video media I find I have little interest in movies also.

I practice gratitude as often as possible, for as many things as possible, a roof over my head and a chair to sit in right now for example.

I walk as much as I can, and will be adding kundalini yoga next month.

I try to avoid avoidance, I see it as a form of resistance, more accurately, I try to RELEASE my desire to avoid things and breathe consciously through it all.

I like the thought of switching my vision. A friend of mine was teaching me about seeing in wide angled vision while outside... it was to be able to detect the subtleties in nature and spot hidden creatures or simply have a larger field scope.

But it seems that there are many connections to make between patterns of thought and the way we focus our eyes. Hmmm... haha, just thinking about this caused my eyes to twitch in a way they never have before.

it's so amazing how our bodies can reroute our inner energy pathways so quickly, they ARE our minds in a large sense.

I do something very similar. I'll look at my hand, at my body, at my surroundings, and think to myself "What is this?" "Where am I?". This practice really puts things in perspective for me because I can't answer either question.

Once you stop and realize your just a floating blob of energy. everything else seems to wither away - worries, doubts, attachments included.

Mantra - Om Namaha Shivaiya - Aum Namaha Shivai
Bikram Yoga - As Bikram says... Would you rather suffer 90 minutes or 90 years?
Rebirthing Breathwork - Keeps me in touch with the person I was before anyone added anything.
Fire Purification - Time spent with an Open Flame - Burns away negative thoughts and emotions.
Water Purification - Baths! not showers - Soak and Soak some more.
Raw Food - Clarity, Clean Energy Raw Food is brain food.

I just feel so lucky, so appreciative of my life and the amazing pleasureable tools I have to carry me along my path!

I go digging, getting to the root of the roots of various thoughts and their connected emotions, understanding the beliefs that are continuously recreating the undesired frequencies of body-mind experiences I have.

Even deeper, I dig to find the roots of the roots of the roots of what 'beliefs' even are, which I'm coming to see are like these multi-dimensional energies: patterns of sacred geometry, sounds, or colorful organizations of dynamic singing shapes....

I'm still very much a beginner at this activity, but it's really interesting. I dive into the energy matrix that I am, that I am sourced from, that I am connecting to, in order to more consciously determine the self I am becoming!

I'm also devoting more of my energy to creating an environment that is protective from all those sticky icky city vibes that I really don't want many of in my diet... like cell phones, advertisements, any 'meaningless information'.

My intention is to evolve my mind so that all information becomes meaningful and can be directed towards higher purposes.

Great question and every answer was perfect.
Being happy in the moment is my number one priority.

I have tools. I use SWITCHWORDS. There is a blog on my page. But CLEAR --dispels fear or worry
CANCLE--gets rid of negative thoughts. The words carry power and are great for directing my thought.
TOGETHER --Is the master word and brings in your godself. DIVINE --is to create miracles or the extraordinary.
So I chant TOGETHER DIVINE LOVE all the time to myself. It raises my vibration.

I also do not watch anything negative no news or newspaper--It is a misrepresentation of what is actually going on.

I also realize that my thoughts are not real and question them. Byron Katie style. Like she says if you see a snakes in the dessert and it scares you ,but then you look again and see it was just a rope you can never be afraid of it again. That is what our thoughts are --nothing to believe or be afraid of. Just like little children that need LOVE.

I am a work in progress but I have a goal to feel good now.

Hi April, We get a fair number of applicants, and it varies all the time. It is absolutely NOT required that someone be raw for any length of time. What is required is that someone be truly open and coachable. This is paradigm-busting stuff bas...

I guess if you think of it as eating raw as what God intended, and makes us the purest version physically of what were meant to be, then maybe it is a way to get closer to God and clear away the distracting mess of sickness, and the hormone and em...
