I clean my tongue every morning and evening. I brush my teeth using non-fluoride toothpaste at least twice a day. I also use interdental brushes.... Some of my friends told me that I'm obsessed with oral hygiene, but since discovered severe cavities couple of years ago and had 17(!!!) fillings done, I gues I'd rather stay on the safe side for now and clean properly.... you?
I use a Sonicare toothbrush and alternate between Weleda toothpaste (I wish it didn't have veggie glycerine in it...) and Ascended Health "oral elixir." I floss every time before I brush as well.
I'm thinking to make my own toothpaste sometime soon or perhaps purchasing Tooth Soap. I'd be interested to know if anyone uses Tooth Soap and what they think of it.
I was using an unscented vegan soap for a while. I'd dip my toothbrush in 3% foodgrade hydrogen peroxide with water and then in the soap. Sometimes with a little spearmint essential oil. Sometimes I use a vegan mineral toothpaste. But I'm open to other suggestions too.

Yeah, I was wondering about my practice Ive been making my own TP for about a year. 6 mo ago my dentist said my teeth are fab. I wonder how they are now though. They look good, they are white. I havent had any teeth probs last 6 rs raw. I used to have slightly receding sensitive gums, that stopped. I think that scrubbing them after eating even with nothing is more important than WHAT one uses, excepting immediately after acids like lemon juice.
I mix:
~coconut oil
~clove oil (few drops)
~Alum free baking soda
~Birch sugar (xylitol)
~sea salt (fine) OR...
~ipsab powder, which is :
"Edgar Cayce Product - You have discovered the natural choice for good dental care. When, in reading [1131-1 ] Cayce said “That which is best for the teeth is a combination of salt and soda, which is better than all the concoctions that have been sold in tubes or pastes”, we took his suggestion seriously. Salt contracts the gums to a firmer, healthy strength. This lets the soda get in between the teeth to remove bacteria and neutralize acids that eat away tooth enamel. Together with prickly ash (a Native American oral remedy) and peppermint, they make a truly effective formula for regular dental hygiene. Brushing daily with Ipsab Tooth Powder, along with use of the other Ipsab products, flossing, and a healthy diet, will promote your wonderful smile!"
I don't understand why people use the combo of baking soda AND salt. Baking soda has sodium in it. How much salt does one need? Baking soda a few times a week on the brush and the rest of the time just a soft-bristle toothbrush and water works for me. The one thing you don't want is a commercial toothpaste that includes glycerine and an abrasive, which is every commercial brand I have ever seen. Glycerine coats the teeth and hinders remineralization and the abrasives are simply too harsh on the teeth and gums if you brush frequently and vigorously. Flossing regularly is important. Whether I use baking soda on the brush or not, I always rinse with baking soda dissolved in water. Sometimes during the day I also rinse with baking soda just to alkalize the mouth after eating something acidic.
