I recently found a friend I haven't seen in over 20 years. Alot can happen in that time. She was diagnoised with breast cancer at the age of 29. She is also a registered nurse. Long story short genetically she was at risk but didn't know. She chose to only remove the one breast and get hysterectomy. She has been cancer free for 5 yr. Im planning a trip to see her in 2 weeks. I want to introduce her to raw food but I don't want her to feel like Im trying to push my own beliefs on her.
Are there any suggestions for reading material, documentaries, u tube clips, research data that would be appropriate? Im not looking to bombard her with material.
Kriss Carr is the ultimate! Hmm, there is this great study online which was doen at the tree of life, its so raw food online paper, its a real good study. Also no worries if she isn't all up on being raw, some people aren't ready for that yet. I think the best way is to just show her how awesome you are in all your rawness, how glowy your skin is, how calm and at peace you are, let your good energy that raw fuels you with blow her mind! Thats sure to lead to questions. How about you don't tell her about raw until she asks. Show her what raw can do through yourself, be the change you want to see and all that junk ;)!
Another great read is The China Study. It's a pretty big read but directly applicable to your friend. This is the cumulation of 70 years of study conducted by a doctor/ researcher at Cornell on the effects of a plant based diet. He doesn't specifically say raw but he says that a whole foods, plant based diet is not only the root of good health but can reverse the common disease of affluence such as cancer and heart disease. In his studies they found that you can literally flip the switch from on to off and vice versa by controlling the amount of animal protein in the diet. Very powerful news that has lit a new fire under my raw vegan booty! Despite being a big book you can learn about the results of his studies by simply reading the intro. The book has a section arranged by the study results on all the big diseases including cancer and also sections on what to eat and why this news has not been promoted in the health/ medical industries (politics and corporate profits as usual!).
This book is a must read for everyone and most especially anyone that is dealing with a serious disease. Good luck! I always figure it's best to present the information and the person is free to do with it what they want.

I found this link about alternative cures for cancer, an organic fresh foods diet (if not entirely raw) is cited as one of the major cures along with energy therapies and various supplements and elixirs. I sent it to a friend of mine whose wife has ovarian cancer. Good luck with your friend.

Hey Rose!
Kris Carr really is a amazing and inspirational resource! There is a documentary coming out called "The Beautiful Truth" about Gerson Therapy. It looks good.

I spent this last year with my sister going through all the treatments, mastectomy, radiation and chemotherapy. She's 40 and 39 when diagnosed. Your friend has no doubt been bombarded with people's take on how to take care of herself. It happens to every cancer patient and it's frightening for them because they, as my sister did, deeply want to do the right thing. I like what Jane suggested, let your vibrance speak for raw. Anything other than a gentle mention of your diet would be pushy -- unless she asks. I knew of the parasite theory, the virus theory, high vitamin C infusions, Gerson therapy, chemotherapy and on and on before my sister was diagnosed. But bombarding her with my ideas and what I think was not what she needed. She needed a safe person she could talk to about her ideas, thoughts and feelings. Of course a good diet is important and all you need to do is be the best example you can be. On the other hand... if she's curious jump on that with enthusiasm and joy. Show her this site, other sites, beautiful raw food photos and, of course, make tasty beautiful food.
I haven't watched this video yet, but maybe you should give it a listen. http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=F1GPnlbGweM The guy that posted that video has so many other helpful videos, I imagine this one is worth listening to as well.
Hey there. I just stumbled accross this post and wrote this article today. Hopefully it isn't too late and it can help. Can you update us on your friend? :)
