Give it to me Raw

So, I am curious. Have any of you experienced hair loss or bad thinning of your hair after going high raw or 100% raw. I started having that problem and I am eating more cooked foods again because I am wondering if I was not eating enough or not getting a nutrient I needed. I am wanting to go mostly raw again, but im scared to. I have been to the doctor and I do not have blood sugar problems or anything else. I am a healthy fat chick. lol. They are running some tests right now for b12 and some other vitamins/nutrients stuff and I should know soon. Im really really hoping that I am not going through the thinning stage that alot of women get when they get older. My hair line is going farther and farther back, forhead seems to be getting larger. :( Any help.. any experience? I am now taking Super Primrose capsules everyday.. 1300 mg, I am taking a multi vitamin.. One n only is the name by Pure Essense lab.. and I take a teaspoon and a half of msm powerder everyday. My doctor was worried that the msm might be causing it. IDK

Are you losing a lot of weight on raw foods? I have heard that with rapid weight loss, many people lose a lot of hair as well. I do not know the cause, though.

I am not as high raw as I used to be. :( The reason was because I was my hair starting thinning and I freaked out.. I have thin hair to begin with. I did lose weight quickly.. but Its been really slow now for the past few months, especially now that I am eating some cooked foods again.

My aunt is losing a ton of weight very quickly and her hair is all falling out. She has fine hair too. Her doctor says it is common and will grow back. I don't know if that is the reason for you, but could be?

That's interesting. I've been accustomed to reading some people's hair grows BACK, returns from gray to normal color, etc...

Could be a hormone imbalance. I'd suggest getting a hormone panel done.

Here's a good article suggesting hormone imbalance is often a primary factor - related to androgen metabolism.

my hair has been through an all over thinning for the last 5 or 6 years, due to a hormonal imbalance. (half as much hair as I used to have) I have not lost a lot of weight or anything. have you ever had any symptoms of PCOS? I had menstrual symptoms early on, but the thinning hair took years to come about. Been raw for a year, but haven't noticed any difference. When I do an apple cider/distilled water rinse after washing my hair, it keeps the shedding way down

I do not know what PCOS is.. will have to research it to find out. I have tried the apple cider vigar thing once.. will have to do it more, and try that. I got some silcon tablets yesterday to try too.

I've heard that jojoba oil can be good for this.

Which version of the raw foods diet are you following? Do you eat sea vegetables and superfoods?

Back when I was doing 80-10-10 about 6 years ago, I started to have alot of hair falling out. Big clumps would come out.

I added organic eggs into my diet (the DHA rich eggs) which I bought from my local farmers market. My hair stopped falling out after eating cooked eggs.

I'm not sure what caused the hair loss, and I don't know why eggs fixed the problem. It might be because eggs are high in protein and the essential long chain fats.

It hasn't happened since then, and I no longer eat eggs. I now eat vegan foods with DHA and EPA, including E3Live , "Ruth's Hemp Protein with E3Live", and superfoods.

You may want to try eating 99% raw vegan, with the 1% cooked being organic eggs.

Good luck,

Mike

I haven't checked to see if my water is fluoridated.. probaby it though, Most tap water now-a-days is. I use a britta pitcher for my drinking water.. no filter on my shower water though :(

Britta won't remove fluoride I am certain. Shower filter's a good $40 investment to rid chlorine. I got one.

The concept of 80-10-10 has only been around since the book came out in 2006. Don't know how you could have been practicing it before it was conceived.

im confused. matt monarch swears by regular colonic hydrotherapy. its his no.1 raw tip, didn't think it could be dangerous but now it kind of makes sense. enemas seem much more natural in comparison.

I've heard great, great things about Living Light Culinary Arts Institute in Fort Bragg, CA. I know that isn't really in the Los Angeles area, but it's still in CA and I believe they provide students the option to stay in their 'Living Light Inn'....

The way I see it is that generally people who label themselves are confident of the path they have chosen while, also generally, people don't don't label aren't quite as sure if what they're following is the right way to go.

things that have actually worked for me: Valerian root for tea - very calming... Lemon juice, sliced lemon peel, lemon grass or lemon verbina, raw honey, star anise (optional), maybe some ginger, hot water (let it all infuse together for a while) ...
