Give it to me Raw

Replies to This Discussion

i feel really crappy too! all that gobble gobble stuff. i really miss green juice but since i'm master cleansing...i gotta waite.

generic celery...GROSSest thing i've every experienced. raw foods really opened up my taste buds and i can't tolerate GMO celery it just taste NASTY and it makes me paranoid..i started wondering what the yucky gmo chemicals is doing inside me.

i don't think i'll be able to feast on all organic but i will not my mind is made up on 1 thing...i will not buy generic celery and watercress (for fear of parasites)

I pulled out my juice books and started to bookmark all the juices i must have...i can't wait.

this is great! I'm glad you guys are in. I'm planning on doing the 30 days as practice for the 92 days in march.

I was going to begin a juice feast between Jan or February but a recent forum here reported that it only increases the feeling of being cold. I live in Detroit and its freezing here, so I am perplexed if I should wait.

if you add warming spices to your juices or drink lots of tea it helps and wear more clothes. The last time i did a feast before i even started feasting i was alot cold because of a combination of winter weather and my body adjusting to the cool temperature of all that raw food i was eating. In my honest opinion if you're eating high raw and not consuming too many gourmet raw foods your gonna feel cold at some point. It's not a discomforting feeling. For me now its a little reassuring, I know that what's flowing through my vains and i'm happy with it. i'd much rather have veggie/fruit goodness running arond my body than trans fats!

First of all Sheryl, I'm one of the new kids on the block and I couldn't wait to join this forum to tell you how hilarious you are. You are so funny! I love reading your posts and comments.

Ok, second nature of business: I have NEVER done a juice feast and I am so excited, even though I have no idea how or where to start. So my plans over the next few weeks are to soak up all the info I can from you guys so that I have some sort of a clue come January 3rd!!!

Be blessed!

Sheryl---

I was going to start the New Year off by doing a juice fast starting on 12/26. However, I just saw this post. Please share the details as I may join you. It would be nice to have some company on the fast. Also, what juice feasting books do you recommend. Thanks, my early bird friend. LOL

I think the books that i've come across on juice fasting aren't worthy of my money hence the lack of them in my current possession. I have books on juices and smoothies but i love 3 of them and think once you have them you won't need anything else.

1. Green for life by victoria boutenko. This book is kinda like a reference guide that focuses on green smoothies. I think it's good for anyone interested in doing a modified feast and it also helped me figure out some of my concerns with raw and vegan lifestyles.

2. The Big Book of Juices and Smoothies: 365 Natural Blends for Health and Vitality Every Day by natalie savona. Ths book is my favorite. It's got variety and veggie combos that would not normally consider..like brocolli and grapefruit (who would have thunk it?). I recommend this book because of the way they categorize the recipes. I love the rating system they use. if i'm looking for a juice thats going to help me with detox and build my immunity i can find it easily.

3. Juices & Smoothies: Over 200 Delicious Drinks for Health and Vitality. I love this book because it tells you aproximately how much juice you'll get from each recipe. That helps me alot when i'm considering trying a new combo when feasting. there is nothing more annoying than trying to figure out how much juice i'll get from a recipe. This book saves me time and its got some great greens based juices.

no matter how many books i buy i always go back to those books when i'm looking for inspiration. i need no others! any other recipes i use i've created on my own and i think you will as well.

I will add additional links soon

Thanks! I've been wanting to do the 90 day fast for a while. I checked the website last month and couldn't find info for 09 so was going to do one on my own. So happy to now do it alongside all the other beautiful feasters! March works perfectly into my schedule... Bring it ON!!! I can't wait!

Thanks for this timely forum dear Sheryl.
Hell yeah peoples I am totally in! I did a 12 day juice fast beginning on the 1st of this month followed by 4 days of social occasions and holiday festivities and I am back on the juice tomorrow! I was so much firmer in my intentions and truths on the juice and feel like I've been lost and unproductive over the last few days. On the first of the year I am Master Cleansing and there is a group and support forum for 2009 cleansers as well:
http://therawfoodsite.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3013
Then I am pursuing the full 92 day juice feast! Yay! I'm sincerely looking forward to supporting each other through our amazing cleansing experiences and I offer my support as a veteran cleanser for any questions or concerns people have.
I live in Shanghai and it is bone chillingly cold here but it hasn't stopped me from riding my bike everywhere while fasting and feasting! Hot lemon, ginger, and honey concoctions help and a sprinkle of cayenne in juices adds some fire to the internal system. Cuddling with friends is always sooo pleasing in the cold. Keep in mind the mentality of cold as well! It is in the mind that we conceive judgements of hot versus cold and the weather is neither - it just IS. I've done a lot of mountaineering and backcountry skiing expeditions (and have also had many a merry evening in mini frocks over tights protected only with a fashionably thin jacket). Here is my unsolicited advice, try it! I always recommend changing your body language against what you perceive is cold:
1. Maintain good posture! (do not let your shoulders drop and your muscles tighten, closing your body),
2. Take deep breaths! (again as a way of monitoring your general physical and muscular openness, deep full, calming breathing is essential and not letting yourself fall into short, shivery patterns)
3. Have an attitude of not being cold! (It's mental friends, just feel warm, think warm, and speak of warmth)
Yep: Posture, Breathing, and Attitude, it's easy to remember and totally works!
Alright, happy fasting and feasting and loving and living to all! Be well; create a beautiful! Blessings xx

I watch a lot of TV. For a normal person, it's probably too much, but for an aspiring TV writer, it's probably not enough. I watch Top Chef, Project Runway, Heroes, Gossip Girl, Greek, Biggest Loser, Glee, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, and Bon...
