I feel calm and happy on raw, but i have noticed that i don't get excited anymore.
i wondered if this was a quirk unique to me, a nutritional deficiency or a common experience.
Have any of you noticed something like this?

hello Starflower..how long have you been eating raw?are you eating all raw,what raw foods are you eating?if you eat alot of fat,high high fat it can make you feel numb....
if you dont like this feeling,change it around a little,play with eating raw til you find what makes you feel calm,peace filled and happy and able to feel excited again..

have sprouted buckwheat and legumes.
i have been raw for ages, 5 years.
i have never felt completely great on raw foods. mood improved greatly, but not motivated and energised, perhaps because i am feeling too calm and numbed.
or maybe this is just you,calm? :)
thats great 5 years,it should be feeling good though..have you tried changing things around a little? is that all you're eating just the spouts and legumes? why not add more balance in,you could be lacking some vital minerals/nutrients..
how about a little fat,a few pieces of fruit,more leafy greens,perhaps some wheatgrass juice? give it a whirl,if you arent happy the way things are,perhaps change it?? xo

I think it is normal to have personality changes on a healthier diet. I have been on fasts with other people and it is interesting to see how some people act before the fast and then how they act after they have gotten into the fast.
The people who have been eating a lot of fruit are usually the worst negativity wise because they are not used to burning fat for energy. It could also be symptoms of candida die off.
One thing to remember is with any kind of carbs you are going to experience a tired feeling afterward. Buckwheat is still a carb. If you stick with green juices and greens in the morning you will probably have more energy. If you are going to have carbs have them later in the day. They can also help you sleep better.
i use to be a highly stressed anxious angry person before raw...then when i ate 811 for the last twelve months(my third attempt for 12 months at a time on 811) i became very irritable and anxious again,and felt very possessed by thoughts of food ..
now changing my eating,i feel calm and peace filled yet energised too...you can have both,when you find what way of eating raw suits you best...i have gone back to the way i started eating raw foods,6 years ago,i felt great then i feel great now...
i see, i dont like being possessed by thoughts of food and health either. you become a bore in non raw circles.

I've heard great, great things about Living Light Culinary Arts Institute in Fort Bragg, CA. I know that isn't really in the Los Angeles area, but it's still in CA and I believe they provide students the option to stay in their 'Living Light Inn'....
The way I see it is that generally people who label themselves are confident of the path they have chosen while,also generally, people don't don't label aren't quite as sure if what they're following is the right way to go.

i do yoga, but not regularly, and my flexibility isnt that great.
my breathing capacity is great, and thats the only thing good.
things that have actually worked for me:
Valerian root for tea - very calming...
Lemon juice, sliced lemon peel, lemon grass or lemon verbina, raw honey, star anise (optional), maybe some ginger, hot water (let it all infuse together for a while) ...
oh yeah there were like 3 judges who really eager to find mistakes in my asanas and other yoga practices that they asked me to perform :)
But i am lucky hahahaha
