Anyone else here eat bugs? Do you eat them raw? I've had wild ants and crickets, and I tried a grub once (not an experience I'd like to repeat anytime soon). I'm thinking of starting my own dorm-room cricket farm to supply me with crickets through the winter. I bet that crickets soaked in tamari and dehydrated until crispy would be a tasty snack. Raw crickets taste like raw shelfish only richer and less salty/fishy.
Yes, I feel like they are a really potent superfood and a very natural part of the human diet, as per http://www.beyondveg.com/nicholson-w/hb/hb-interview1c.shtml. Also, part of the solution to our current environmental crisis. People spray crops with poisons to kill insects that are more nutritious than the crops themselves! Tomato horn worms and locusts are the two worst culprits for crop destruction and they are both edible. I bet you could replace 50% of the meat in a McDonald's hamburger with insects and no one would notice ;-) .
Like it or not, you've probably already eaten at least a pound of insects over the course of your life without noticing it.
Insects provide abundant zinc, calcium, iron, niacin and protein, among other vitamins and minerals.
If I have just one or two crickets then I'll pop them whole into my mouth and chew really fast. For a lot of crickets, probably the easiest way to kill them is to put them in the freezer for a few minutes. This is how they would die in nature when the cold weather comes. Sometimes I take the legs off, but not the wings.

That was a big rumor back in the days, that MC D's used worms in their burgers to bring their price down. That would actually be allot healthier than the burgers they serve now.
You are so cool. I really want to start eating bugs. May I send you some questions here in a week or so? I would love to learn more. I think bugs are a missing link in the (temperate zone) raw diet.
I've never purposely eaten a bug but if I did I wouldn't be able to make it past the ant category. Ants don't seem bad but I watch my chameleon eat crickets and guts pop out of them...gross...lol!

So, I ate some (too unripe) pineapple and it "ate" some of me. Sore lips, chapped mouth corners, slightly sensitive/swollen tongue. Anyone know of good remedies for these conditions? Was thinking I should avoid stretching and licking my lips, and ...

P.S. I have a hard time sleeping without some nightcap food too. I was addicted to bananas and almond butter before bed, but I'm trying to phase it out by freezing bananas in the morning and then making raw ice cream at night.
Banana peach coconut smoothie for breakfast, then
3 Collard wraps with spicy mango salsa, avocado, onion, cilantro, sprouts, and sauteed portabello mushroom. Amazing.
Now I'm contemplating dinner. Might treat myself to Que Seraw Seraw in Burlinga...

hi stacey,
I was doing Hatha Yoga, that involves asanas, prayanama, bandha and mudras.
Apart from yoga we were taught Anatomy, Psychology, Philosophy etc., so that the students of this course could teach yoga and take it as a profession later.
