Give it to me Raw

Over the last few months I have witnessed durianrider attempt to ridicule, Brian Clement, Gabriel Cousins, Robert Young, David Wolfe, Edward Howell to name but a few. These people alone have around 150 years of experience and research in food nutrition. He sometimes makes the most outrageous remarks and fails to deliver any supporting data time and time again. When challenged, he usually responds with some flippant remark or more often fails to respond at all. My favourite Durianrider quotes are the recent ones;

'i do a bit of shopping for my grandma. i brought around some cert organic gala apples. she told me they are too hard on her body and she only eats golden delicious. grandma told me this whilst eating a msg soaked bbq chip..lol!

i always have a giggle when crew diss fruit and they are eating cancer fodder.

i used to get frustrated about it, but ive learnt that some crew are genetically damaged mentally and cant uptake basic human physiology info. being raw has really taught me what acceptance and tolerance really is

so im gonna add acceptance and tolerance to the 811 lifestyle as key factors to thriving in this cooked world'.

And the classic reply when asked to justify why humans need to train to run 26 miles;

'hey, you never know when a tsunami is coming! better to be in shape than not be in shape dont you reckon?'

What's your favourite Durianrider quote?

So if you are new to Raw food please beware Durianrider has only one message- 811 is the only dietary option. Most experienced Raw foodists disagree with this and unlike Durianrider are prepared to back their statements up.

I often do the most practical thing when dr posts ... I choose to simply ignore it.

"It is imperative for our freedom to understand that [they] were doing the best they could with the understanding, awareness, and knowledge they had. Whenever we blame someone else, we are not taking responsibility for ourselves. ... you need this knowledge for your own freedom. You can't free yourself until you free them. You can't forgive yourself until you forgive them. If you demand perfection from them, you will demand perfection from yourself, and you will be miserable all your life. ... We are all here to transcend our early limitations, whatever they were. We're here to recognize our own magnificence and divinity no matter what they told us. You have your negative beliefs to overcome, and I have my negative beliefs to overcome. ...We are always perfect, always beautiful, and ever changing. We are doing the best we can with the understanding, awareness and knowledge we have. As we gain more understanding, awareness and knowledge, then we will do things differently."

---Louise Hay

this isnt directed at anyone in particular, i just think her words are such a blessing; her book is really helping me to transform my life and learn acceptance (of myself as well as others... though ive still got a lot of road to walk :)

something to meditate on, anyways :)
bless.
This morning I read Chris Burt's statement here and felt ignited like "I wasn't the only one feeling this way about DR." But as I let it go and moved on with my day (which was the healthy choice not to respond to this frivolity) I came back to read all the messages this evening. Several of these statements began with "I think..." Does it really matter what we think. DR is really doing what any one of us hasn't had the balls yet to do and that is to speak up to these ridiculous raw egos.
I'd say something if I saw durianrider eating a hamburger! Is that a personal attack because he is a member here?
*lol* back at you!

Isn't everyone tired yet? at this point, this is what this thread is sounding like to me, LOL! (No offense to anyone)

LOL!!!
I think durienrider is really only trying to point out that RAW is supposed to be natural, whole foods based - not a bunch of superfood and product pushing. and while his personal approach may not be as gentle as most people would like, he does have a point. he highly advocates 811 because he is a very active athlete and he thrives on it. he isn't trying to get you to buy is highly over-priced products which is what many of these "gurus" of raw seem to be into these days. 811 gets back to the roots of raw foods, LOW fat HIGH greens. Do I think EVERYONE can thrive eating this diet? No, because if you are a really inactive person and don't exercise than you really have no need to eat 12 bananas. However, I do know that when I stick to eating a nice balence of fruit and greens I feel so light and healthy and full of energy. Even Doug G. says being active is a HUGE part of 811. Which i think is a good thing. Whether you are eating raw or not if you are sitting on your tush and not doing some form of exercise it is all really pointless, in my opinion. But I also don't think people thrive on the high fat transitional food diet either which is basically just as bad as eating cooked anyway. I also don't think a lot of people disagree with 811, how could you really disagree with a lifestyle that promotes being as natural as possible? the degree to which you incorporate it into your life is really up to you.and i suppose that is where you can agree or disagree with certain things. most people feel that "raw high" when they are eating low fat high greens. in fact, raw model just wrote a post about that. i don't agree with everything durienrider posts, obviously, but sometimes he does have a a point - like the cousens post the other day. wtf? the guy wanted some concrete info not to know about the freaking goji berries he was selling on his website for probably 2x the amount of money he could purchase them for at his local health food store. that stuff doesn't make sense to me. i do think cousens has a lot of good things to say and i mean he obviously heals A LOT of people which is fantastic but the product pushing in raw and the astronomical amount of money they expcet people to pay is very silly. i don't mean this in a nasty/negative way either. that is all i have to say :)
Suvine,
Thanks muchly! I totally agree with you. I have had a lot of health problems recently because I was not eating enough greens and basically no fat. And when I ate fat it was not the best I probably could have been eating. Fruit is just sooo easy so I was eating tons of it. I know you just came back from The Ann Wigmore Institute and truth be told I absolutely adore her. I want to go there so bad! I feel like they truely care about people and healing. Again, over the summer I was running insanely much and exercising A LOT and walking around the City so it was easy for me burn the carbs. Now I am still running a lot but I don't have as much time at the gym because of school. And it is cold so I am not walking as much and thus put on weight. I really love fruit too. But i know I need to eat way more greens because that is when I feel best. I think people forget that 811 is not just bananas and mangos but non sweet fruits like cucs and tomates too. I don't think I was ever that militant when I first started except with my boyfriend because I felt like if he didn't start eating raw that very second he was going to die. Totally weird and not true, obviously, but when you find out all this information you feel like you NEED to impart it on loved-ones immediately. I have never been a big fan of Wolfe because to me he seems a bit self-righteous and I cringe at the idea of telling newbie rawfoodies that they MUST buy into these superfoods (which can only be purchased from his site because those are the best most purest quality which requires a price that i don't think anyone in this economy can really afford) in order to reach the highest level of health when really all you need is orangic fruits and veggies and all the other stuff is just good for taste (cacao) in desserts and what not. Not to mention that raw food is supposed to put us in touch with nature and the environment and if these products are being shipped from Peru and what not isn't that just as bad for the environment - whether you are getting tabacco or bananas or the purest cacao known to man from Peru it is still from Peru - there is still a carbon footprint. And, lastly, I get peeved mostly because I feel like raw food should be raw food should only be accessible to the rare few who can afford to buy these products from so-called gurus. I don't think the answer is always in the food -- some people need supplements. On 811 I think you need to be super educated about minerals and all those things or else you can find yourself lacking and very confused about what the heck you are doing wrong.

Fundamentalism is never good and always leads people to a negative place. Perhaps DR will realize that taking a more positive approach to spreading the 811 wisdom will be more beneficial.

What is in energy soup?? I have found a bunch of recipes and they are all different. Are you following the AW progam as though you were still there and does she have any books other than the one about wheatgrass that details what it is? I am really into fermented/cultured food because I have always had poor digestion (probably because of my idiot years attempting atkins and overloading my system with toxic meat and diary) and I am wondering if rejuvalac actually works or not and want to make some.

Have a lovely night!

You wanna both snowboard and ski? You usually have to stick to one if you want to master it. Not saying you can't do both, but maybe wait until you got the hang of it before switching up.

My dog likes to sleep between my legs. Warm and I rather not speculate what's going through Mr. SS McCracken's head. Then again, he likes to sniff the cat's butt after using the litterbox :hurl:
