2 vids of chimps eating a monkey... Woah.... pretty wild..

I guess they eat insects too though right? How can we be herbivores if chimps aren't even herbivores?

I just don't get how anyone can think humans are 100% herbivores? So many people try to argue it but it never makes any sense to me.

Humans are opportunivores! But doing something for survival is different than doing it for your highest healing and spiritual evolution:)

This is what Victoria Boutenko says:

Question #3: What is your new book, "Green For Life" about?
In this book I compared the human diet with the diet of chimpanzees, because they are genetically the closest living creatures to humans. About 40% of the volume of chimpanzees' diet is greens. In my book Green for Life, I research why most humans don't like the taste of greens. My family was not an exception. Through experimentation I came up with the green smoothie, an easy and palatable way to consume more greens.

(with greens, she means green leavy vegetables, LL)

Do chimps eat nuts and seeds? I thought they eat mostly greens and shoots and stuff with only a tiny bit of fruit. If that is the case then what humans eat on raw food is pretty far from what chimps eat. We need a lot more fruit and a lot more nuts as we're not chewing on plants all day.

But regardless of what anyone claims. How can you argue a video of wild chimpanzees eating killing a monkey and eating it's raw meat? And I'm sure one can find plenty of videos of them eating termites and other insects. And as far as I am aware Victoria Boutenko, as lovely and well intentioned as I truly think she is, has only done personal research through libraries and the internet. Hardly a true expert from my impression.

they eat mostly fruits and greens....but they wouldn't turn down bugs, seeds, little fish, ect.

If the taste of greens are not palatable in their raw and totally unprocessed state, could this mean that they are not an optimal food for us?
No animals living by instinct eat foods that taste unappetising as is.
If the only way we can eat large quantities of greens is by processing them, are we going against our instinct?

I think it is very different if raw mono greens taste good to one, without any processing.

we don't crave greens because are bodies are so used to eating cooked food and we have not only warped our taste buds but also are stomach are weak so greens become hard to digest. Are body tells us we don't need them....but thats only because it's damaged. Greens promote probiotic production and by eating more greens we are healing our bodies. Monkeys eat a huge amount of greens. Green also clean our teeth and work our jaw.

I am interested in the fact that most kids, who in my opinion generally are more instinctive than most adults, are drawn to raw mono fruit but no so much towards raw mono greens.
Even though they are on cooked foods, most kids I have come across love to eat unprocessed fruit but only seem to like greens if they have a dressing on them or are in a smoothie.

Or when babies are first starting to eat food; they love ripe fruit but try them with mono raw greens and they usually spit it out.

I do think greens have a part in most people's diet, but not necessarily everybody's.
I think our natural food must surely be that which we are drawn to in its raw and totally unprocessed state.
Our taste buds, as bubs, before they have become 'warped' are geared towards sweet; Breast milk tastes as sweet as cantaloupe. The milk of herbivores is not sweet in the same way.

Why is our milk soo sweet, if when weaned the majority of our diet is not to be composed of sweet foods?

Hi RawZi,
I thought that all human milk was sweet.
I guess it must differ with diet, depending on the mother's diet; but I thought that it still contained far more lactose than herbivore's milk, whatever the diet of the mamma.

I am a Greek woman and I have a hairy chest.
I wasn't abandoned on a mountain or fed raw meat, though.
I'm athletic but no Olympian.

Thanks for sharing BB,
do your children like and eat mono greens?
My chillun have never been interested in them.
.
Why do you think human milk is much sweeter than herbivore's?

It is a point that interests me in regard to our diet and the origins of our species.

From Wikipedia:

"Milk. Human milk has the highest lactose percentage at around 9%. Unprocessed cow milk has 4.7% lactose. Unprocessed milk from other mammals contains similar lactose percentages (goat milk 4.1%,[41] buffalo 4.86%,[42] yak 4.93%,[43] sheep milk 4.6%)".

I've met some hit chix on GITMR. Not satisfying in the least. Just the opposite. Most communication is self-defeating, accomplishes nothing. I would love it if people would leave me alone when I'm out and about. Anybody else?
