Give it to me Raw

I just got a very basic dehydrator and was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what I can do with it as a beginner. I have only been raw for about 2 weeks with a non-raw family (hubby, 3 1/2 year old girl and 9 month old baby girl) - okay the baby is completely raw. ;o) Im not interested in apple chips or banana chips, any suggestions for this newbie?

So researching online please share with me your opinions about Excalibur vs Good4U brands? which do you prefer and why? needless to say I will be passing the Mr. Coffee onto someone else and purchasing a good one, now which one do you prefer? please please share...

Right now I'm loving the flax crackers I make. You can buy whole flax seeds (mothers has them or any health food shop) and use those. Blend tomatos, basil, onion, garlic and spices and soak the seeds in water and your blended creation and poor onto your dehydrator trays and you're off to the races.

My crackers are brewing as we speak....

I second a cheesy tasting flax recipe, that way you can make a whole load at one time and store for later use.
Soak and blend flaxseed and add sea salt, red bell pepper, tomato, paprika, garlic. Dehydrate until crisp.

Wow I have so many questions. Okay raw buckwheat: my bag does not say raw on the top of the bag but on the back it says PLEASE NOTE: this is a raw agricultural product of the best grade obtainable, does this mean raw like we mean raw... yes right?

Okay so I have another question, not about the dehydrator however. Does anyone know how or have a recipe for a "Portobello Mushroom" that tastes like a steak after being marinated or something like this? hummmmm I heard a rummor that I could make one that would convert a meat and potatoes man.... Thank you in advance for any suggestions or help. ;o)

Lots of recipes for this floating around. Marinate the whole mushroom in a little Olive oil, Nama Shoyu and balsamic if you use it. if not, lemon juice works great. Let sit for a couple of hours then dehydrate an hour or more until kind of soft. I like to do the same w/ a big eggplant slice. My recently turned veg. husband loves these. Try a little red pepper aioli on top....recipe for that is in The Raw Cafe blog under dips/spreads.

Any fruits can be dehydrated, you can make your own raisins from organic grapes, you can dehydrate cherries too. The possibility is endless! My suggestion is to try anything you think would taste great, this way you can experiment and that will help you decide which foods are worth dehydrating.

Do you have any ingredients already you want to use? Would this be something you'd want to share with your family? Lemon cookies are good, or something more like flax crackers?
