Give it to me Raw

There seems to be a lot of discussion about all of the things you shouldn't use because they've been heated past the recommended temperature. And there's not a lot of agreement on it - one persons OK is another persons no-no.

Is there a nutrition based reason for avoiding any of these if they are not core parts of my diet.

For example if I make, say, a shredded/blended salad and then splash on a bit of soy sauce does that compromise the meal or damage it's nutritive qualities or does it just not add to them?

Please understand that: 1) I'm just referring to condiments/seasonings/flavourings, not the major ingredients, and 2) if it just means that my "100% Raw" badge will be confiscated by the Raw Police I can't say I'd really give a stuff! I see going raw as a lifestyle choice, not a religion.

I easily eat whole heads of romaine too! I say I'm rinsing it for tomorrow's green smoothie....but the whole head is gone in minutes......no dressings or condiments....just plain.

I use Braggs Amino Acids on almost every salad I eat, and I eat about 2 a day. I love it mixed with apple cider vinegar, olive oil and crushed garlic. I never get tired of it and I enjoy my salads sooo much. My salad dressing is like a nutritional and medicinal tonic, I know it's good for me and everyone who tries it is impressed at how good it is. I don't really like the taste of soy sauce and it is not nearly as healthy for me as the amino acids are, so I don't use it. But in a pinch or a on some raw vegan sushi it's actually pretty good. Condiments are a potential problem if they disturb digestion, many of them are potent irritants. Some are addictive and so disturb our biochemistry and may subtly alter our minds. This can encourage over eating.

As they are not a substantial source of nutrients, there isn't a nutitional argument against them other than they aren't nutritious.

It is wonderful to come to the point where one can enjoy foods in their natural state and appreciate them for their own flavours.

don't agree with the whole raw food creating a damp environment thing because of the wildly different effects of different raw foods. i've found candida to respond to 100% raw, several different approaches.

probably detox...detox is interesting and creative. thanks for the strength of putting it all out there! it takes a lot to stick with it when the body cleanses. you can do it though i can tell you know it....8^))

you need to whack it right around the top of the coconut with either a heavy handled knife or a machete..im an expert now and crack open those babies in no time.... are you having to take off the outer green shell,or just crack open the white coc...

i would say give it time...if you are feeling flu like symptoms i would say you are detoxing...40 days isnt a long time,when you consider how long you havent been 100% well..your body will heal and clean house in its own time....
