Give it to me Raw

I've found that the more kefir (both water and milk varieties), saur kraut, natural fermented pickles, miso, tamari, kombucha and other live foods I eat/drink, the better I feel and the stronger my digestion is. I don't need to worry about food combining anymore, even the "worst" combinations digest with ease. It seems to me that the live part of "raw and living" foods gets neglected.

People have been culturing food for ages. And wild animals eat fruit that rots on the ground or rotten meat. I haven't been brave enough to try "high" meat yet, but that may be my next adventure in cultured food.

Interesting - I've been hearing asides about fermented foods, and, well, there's the digestion Thing I've had to deal with, and All That... interesting theory about how we have been eating fermented foods for ages... the shoe fits! Water kefir is the next thing I'm looking into... but I think I'll hold off on the high meat...

I want to get more fermented foods into my diet! I was making sauerkraut for awhile. I've been experimenting with rejuvelac just now. I made one from wheat berries, and one from kamut. They tasted pretty much the same, and smelled kind of cheesy. It was enjoyable though, and the more I drink, the more I want it!

I was actually looking at tamari today and considered trying it but figured... screw it, can't be good for me. Has anyone tried it and noticed anything beneficial from it? or worse, did anyone have a bad reaction to it?

I have had tamari and, although I didn't have a bad reaction, the taste is an issue for me...
okay, now i have a craving for sauerkraut so I better go...

I had saurkraut, mustard, sundried tomatoes, kalamata olives, avo, and lettuce for dinner! yum!

Oh, I wish I had some kalamata olives right now!!! Okay, I swear...it's off to bed for me...no late night snacking ;-)

Definitely buy Wild Fermentation by Sandor Katz. It's an awesome reference for everything fermented.

Yes I love fermented foods too :)

Patrick Timpone (http://www.oneradionetwork.com) has some great interviews on his radio show about fermentation and the importance of good gut flora. One of the interviews is with Sandor Katz. Be sure to check them out. They are:

Would soaking them help? I've read that nuts in general has alot of anti-nutrients & soaking is always suggested.

lol yes in many cases. Eating raw fruits and vegetables doesn't make someone more spiritual. If that were case, we could just eat our way to enlightenment. Many animals eat raw fruits and vegetables and still live at a gross level of ignorance an...
