I'm wondering how many people here are into composting their kitchen scraps. It seems that more and more people I know are composting, but some still don't seem to understand why they should do it, how to do it, or what to put into the compost. A lot of people think you have to own a special composting container and you have to add ripped up newspaper, and you have to turn it every day, and you have to mist it, and you have to...
All you really need is a shovel and a place to dig.
Here, the kitchen scraps get burried once a week. I dig a pit, toss them in, and cover them up. Simple and easy. The worms love the kitchen scraps. The soil has turned from sandy and dry to moist and rich... and perfect for growing stuff.
It's one more way you can lead a more sustainable life.
I CANT compost anything! Ive TRIED. I have poultry that LOVES the table scraps from my kitchen (eg 60+ chickens, 8 turkeys, 6 ducks and 1 guinea), Even the cat gets in on the scrapin's once in a while. 'Bout the only thing they leave behind is the raw onion skins. TEENAGED CHICKENS IN THE BROODER AREA

hot composting is the way to go.... take all of your compostables.. and put them in your extra vitamix container (dont use your food container).. blend them up with some water until it gets hot.. and pour them directly onto your garden
Luke warm water(plain water) enema is good, but you can add a table spoon of salt to the water before using.

Amen, Loren. So do you feel the same way about blending then? The whole fiber is still there with blending so not improving on nature as much as sort of 'pre-chewing', if you will
I'm planning to start enemas too (I think when my roommate will leave next month...). Of course it's unnatural, but we have eaten unnatural for years and years and I believe it can help a lot getting out the waste.
I just wanted to ask, what water...
