I have something that feels like a pinched nerve at the top of my spine on one side. It just happened randomly. I don't normally have spine problems, but now it's sore to turn my neck fully to one side. Any suggestions as to what type of practitioner would be best to see?
it's clear and obvious that acupunture can't cure mechanical derangements. if bones are broken and deranged they need to be set. acupuncture does not do this. so in many instances - i contend most - acupunture is a pain relief method and not curative.
i've had acupuncture on my knee and elbow after a car accident. the pain would go away for a couple of weeks and come back. it did not heal my injuries - surgery healed my knee.
i can only imagine acupuncture healing in cases where the puncturing pierces sacs of inflammatory fluid - a sort of draining effect - which leaves you relatively pain free until the fluid sacs fill up again.
basic logic shows you that sticking needles strategically will not reset broken bones or reattach torn tendons. that's magic.
Thanks everyone! Lots of great things to consider. It did happen a couple of weeks ago and then went away, but came back again. I usually do the wait and see what happens thing, but seeing as it's come back I might see about getting one of the therapies suggested.

CranioSacral Therapy is VERY good on necks. If you can find an Upledger trained therapist with CranioSacral Therapy Certification (it means they've done advanced courses, rather than just the first level or two) it could make a huge difference. It's very light work, to anyone watching it would look like not much was going on, sometimes to the person on the table it doesn't feel like much is going on either, but it is!
See me.

I've had back and neck problems for about 5 years, and have tried everything listed here: massage therapy, cranial sacral, acupuncture, chiropractic, physiotherapy, B.E.S.T treatment, yoga, energy therapy, and more. A good chiropractic adjustment and ART therapy (active release therapy) are the best at relieving pain and stiffness. Cranial sacral is helpful too, but it takes a few visits to work (pricey) and I didn't find the results as long-lasting as ART.
