I ate a big yummy meal of raw kelp noodles & cashew sauce and then soon broke out in a rash / hives over my face and neck. I think it was because there was too much cashew sauce, it was just way too rich & much..
So does this mean that I am allergic to cashews? Or what?
I had been eating a lot of nuts that weekend... Maybe I just overdid it?
It's been 4 days since, and the rash has died down, but the skin on my face is still dry and bumpy..
I hope it returns to being smooth & soft again soon! Can I do anything to help it?
Any advice on my predicament would help. Thanks!!! : )
It could be that meal just pushed you over the edge, and it was the accumulation of all the rich foods you ate that weekend that caused your breakout.
The thing about eating foods with lots of nuts and fats in them is that it takes quite a bit of energy to break down and metabolize the fat. This energy of fat digestion could be going to detoxifying and healing your body if you weren't to eat the heavy fats, but instead get calories from eat fresh fruit and non fatty salads.
Am I missing something with these kelp noodles? I bought a bag and it was like eating plastic. Tried soaking it, no dice, so what the hell am I missing.
I have to admit the first time I had kelp noodles it tasted like plastic to me too. I had to soak the noodles in water for a day before they became soft and tasted neutral rather than plastic.
I soaked mine for ages, days even - It's not so much the taste (which... was non-existant) but the texture. Which was plastic. And crunchy. And rubbery.
Is there some sort of secret magic sauce that makes these things appetising? I still have a huge bag of that crap -_-

I've had kelp the kelp noodles that come in a package of liquid and found them to be pretty soft and took on the flavor of the sauce. Which ones are you folks talking about?
I find soaking the kelp noodles in a sauce for 30 minutes gets them very soft. Perhaps the sauces need to be somewhat acidic to make the kelp noodles soften, as I use marinara sauce or sauces that contain citrus (lemon/limes/oranges).
Well we took the noodles right out of the package, but then we smothered them in the cashew sauce (that we had heated up in a Vita mix) and massaged them together, so they tasted great.. but alas, ended in hives..
If the rash is really bad I would go get a colonic. Your body is reacting, rejecting/detoxing something. You can help your body release it more quickly with a colonic, 30 oz green juice a day, sweating, etc.
I used to have a host of skin issues (ezcema, psoriasis, etc). I've found juicing and colonics help to allow my skin to breath, and clear up the real issues (organ problems).
Interesting. Yes, I did two enemas and have been fasting on green juices, and feel much better now, and the hives and rashes have subsided. My skin is still dry and flaky, which it has never been before, but I'm hoping that that will go away soon.. : )
Interesting topic, I see a lot of crossover between raw food and spirituality. Having been raised 1/2 of my life in orthodox Christianity and the other 1/2 just slightly outside of Christian orthodoxy, coming into raw has been a bit of a walk "on ...
