Give it to me Raw

OK. so I had a borders gift card for Christmas (of 07' heh)

and I just got around to using it in Janurary. Borders notoriously has a poor slection of the kind of books I generally like to buy. So I ordered a very expensive kundalini manual. turns out 3 1/2 months after I ordered,.I finally figured out it will never ship and called them up which they conceded. so now i have a $25 credit. I don't want to go over this credit as I think this company is really mediocre. So i am looking to buy probably 1 book or possibly 2 small soft-covers.

anyway..I just searched for 5 books I'd actually like to read and it carries 0 of them. not to mention they don't sell used books (I try not to buy new things ever)

EDIT: turns out they DO have used books So I am ordering a couple of these right now!

anyone know of any more mainstream books that have come out in recent years that are MUST haves?

Usually I only buy non-fiction or something that has alot of great re-read or reference value...like graphic novels or picture books.

No raw food books

.

Seriously the only book I have ever gotten from Borders was "Personal Development For Smart People" by Steve Pavlina. And that was only because I didn't want to wait for Amazon to ship it to me and my B&N didn't have it. He's a member on here - you should really check it out. It's an awesome awesome book.

Thanks..yeah I like Steve's info..didn't know he had a mass market book. Borders selection was just awful..I found.

Path of Empowerment by Barbara Marciniak.
it's full of timeless wisdom very relevant to our current time period... everytime i re-read it, it feels like I'm reading it for the first time.

Given that I'm a bit of a noob re the old non-fiction must haves (but I would recommend Byron Katie) thought I'd give you some straightforward fiction reccies:

My name is Red by Orhan Pamuk. Such an amazing piece of writing, I remember it as if I'd spent the time looking at a velvet tapestry rather than reading a book
Popco or The End of Mr. Y. by Scarlett Thomas. Like the best children's fiction but for adults
The God of Small Things by Arundrhati (sp) Roy, written in the language of inner dialogue, songs and all.

All mainstream as you like and lovely lovely lovely. Scarlett Thomas, btw, is a vegan and clearly wants her readers to be, too...

Are you sure you wouldn't like to enjoy some drug-free escapism with mind-blowing fiction?

I like to do fasts as well and I think the power in fasting is that its a remedial action, one part of the process of purifiying. For instance if you feel you have a lot of non-virtuous residue or spiritual obstacles to remove, you generate regret...

don't agree with the whole raw food creating a damp environment thing because of the wildly different effects of different raw foods. i've found candida to respond to 100% raw, several different approaches.
