Give it to me Raw

OK. so I had a borders gift card for Christmas (of 07' heh)

and I just got around to using it in Janurary. Borders notoriously has a poor slection of the kind of books I generally like to buy. So I ordered a very expensive kundalini manual. turns out 3 1/2 months after I ordered,.I finally figured out it will never ship and called them up which they conceded. so now i have a $25 credit. I don't want to go over this credit as I think this company is really mediocre. So i am looking to buy probably 1 book or possibly 2 small soft-covers.

anyway..I just searched for 5 books I'd actually like to read and it carries 0 of them. not to mention they don't sell used books (I try not to buy new things ever)

EDIT: turns out they DO have used books So I am ordering a couple of these right now!

anyone know of any more mainstream books that have come out in recent years that are MUST haves?

Usually I only buy non-fiction or something that has alot of great re-read or reference value...like graphic novels or picture books.

No raw food books

Lamb by Christopher Moore
It's seriously the best ever. It's fiction. And it's satire. It's Monty Python in a book, and it's amaaaazing. I've reread it 5-6 times, and better yet it's a great intro into other Chris Moore stuff.

But then, if you wanted non-fiction, I really loved "The World is Flat" by Thomas Friedman. I wasn't completely daftly about globalization when I read it, so I didn't go crazy with realization and the topics weren't foreign to me, but for most people it's a bit mind blowing. Really well written, definite recommendation.

I agree totally...Moore is a genius...it takes a unique gift to make someone actually laugh out loud from reading....:)

Jasper Fforde is great too, if you like that kind of book :)

I really want to read Greg Braden's "Fractal Time" book that just came out.

I recommend The World Without Us by Alan Weisman, Blink by Malcolm Gladwell, and anything by Michael Pollan.

Blink is really good! If you want something funny, David Sedaris is great. I think Eat, Pray, Love is a must-have. I couldn't put it down- it was very touching and it made me laugh out loud more than once.

Mainstream must haves? Pulling my leg? :-)
OK, if you want indispensable non-fiction, I'd recommend only Naomi Klein's book The Shock Doctrine -- it's just amazing.
And Michael Lewis, author of Liar's Poker, is also excellent.

There is a great fruit wholesaler in town, specializing in Local, organic fruit actually. All I need is a few people, a car and one willing person to go up there with me at some unholy hour (they close at 9am) once a week and it's beautiful fruit ...

Hi Persephone. My exper. with Chanca Piedra was very low blood sugar plunge. So unsettling and upsetting, but it's the only herb I've had that reaction too. Also the SPA FOOTBATH did the same thing. Now I research things well before taking or usin...
