Give it to me Raw

Hey Everyone,

I am feeling the need to do an adrenal gland cleanse and was wondering if my GI2MR peeps had suggestions of any good ones out there. I greatly appreciate any wisdom thrown my way!

Hi Emily,

I've never heard of an adrenal gland cleanse - apart from a more general cleanse, where you are helping to correct the function of all your organs and systems, hence the adrenals too (not that I know everything by any means!).

There are many herbs and supplements that support adrenal function though. Have you tried anything along those lines?

I agree RawZi - I well know how they can be wiped out by heavy metals and pesticides. I've just never heard of a cleanse that is specifically intended for adrenals. Seems like you need to do general cleansing and rebuilding. Testing for heavy metals might be a good idea so you can find out if that's implicated.

Ann Wigmore? Cool!

Yeah, I had to learn that the hard way. Trying to be a Natural Hygienist for a decade didn't heal my body... it just fed my candida :(

It's so true RawZi... It is only because I've learned through experience that I do really *know what I know*! I could listen to people's advice all day long, but I probably wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to me without that experience. Guess I'm stubborn that way - I need to find things out for myself! Sounds like you've been on a similar path... :)

Thank you for you advice. I had the same thought, that a general cleanse would be in order since I had also never heard of a specific adrenal cleanse, but I thought I'd throw it out there first:)

Yes- I agree- the adrenals don't need to be cleansed. They need to be tonified and strengthened. BTW- whenever you have weak/deficient organ function, you want to tonify, NOT purge, or you risk weakening the organ further.

There is a great book called "Adrenal Fatigue" by James Wilson. I highly recommend it. Also, Chinese medicine has a whole variety of great adrenal healing formulas. You can call customer service at http://www.dragonherbs.com/ and ask for a product recommendation. They will ask you all kinds of questions to determine the best formula for you:)

One helpful thing you can start doing is adding a big pinch of natural salt (I like Real Salt- cleaner than Celtic and cheaper, too!) to any water you drink and to smoothies, food, etc.

That's a good point Erin - purging and not tonifying does further weaken. That was part of my syndrome for sure. Thanks for the recommendations on dragonherbs. I'm using several things now, but I always like to learn more about herbs. The Chinese have it down!

They do! When I asked my old acupuncturist last year about doing some detoxing, at the time she said 'NO!!! You are too weak!!" She was very adamant about it!

Now I know that it's possible to purge where needed and tonify where needed without using herbs or even food. You can do it all through energy (qi)! Talk about a money saver, LOL! I'm being trained in this with medical qigong.

It makes sense that we have our own, built-in healing capacities that have nothing to do with food or other substances because you don't always have control over those. You can always have control over the energetic balance and flow of your own body, though!
I practiced nourishing my kidney/adrenals the other night with specific visualization/breathing and they were cold feeling (very deficient) before I started and considerably warmer when I finished. All in just a few minutes!

I think this is the next level of healing for people:)

Erin, how interesting! When I went to the Tree of Life (2002?) I was told I should not fast - the reason being that I had a high level of deep tissue toxicity. I needed to rebuild my system to be able to handle it first. I also learned about this the hard way - I did an intense liver flush a few years later and caused myself *much* worse problems by dumping toxins into my system that I couldn't eliminate efficiently.

I agree about using energy - the trick of course is having the ability to do that. It seems that if someone is very weak, then energy alone isn't enough, would you agree? Especially to do this for ourselves (it takes a certain strength and clarity of mind, seems to me). But as we heal, our capacity to tap into that power also increases. I'm glad you brought that up because I have done a meditation that used light directed at various organs including the adrenals (an orange in that case), and it was totally obvious that it was in fact powerfully healing. I am going to find that again and do it routinely.

I've been interested in qigong, but haven't made an effort to learn much about it yet. Perhaps one day I will.

Orange and blue - OMG! Orange and yellow makes sense I guess - that's what jaundice is (I believe - liver toxins). Blue perhaps from metal poisoning?

I'm still not entirely clear what happened to me, I just have theories. I apparently tweaked myself hormonally and ended up with fibroids and really bad endometrosis. There was an *immediate* cleansing through the blood (pools of it) when I did the flush. So I either dumped toxins into my reproductive system, or did something to mess with my hormones (since hormones are synthesized in the liver) or both perhaps... I believe there is a symbiotic relationship between mercury toxicity and candida also, which is implicated there (and for me in general).

I'm not sure what I read that finally led me to connect mercury specifically to whatever I did to re-tox myself into my reproductive system... interesting to know you've apparently heard that mercury likes the uterus... It makes sense in my case. Of all the issues I've had throughout life, my periods where not a problem, until that very day. Since then, I've continued to bleed profusely during my menses (and became quite anemic over a couple of years). For awhile the endo was largely debilitating for almost half of the month. It is better now, but I'm still not completely healed from it. Working the candida angle helped a lot (using fermented foods helped a lot!).

Now I better understand the relationship between mercury and candida... previously I thought I could skate so far as dealing with mercury, I didn't understand until a little over a year ago that it is most likely the primary cause of the health issues I've had since childhood... and that those issues won't entirely go away without getting the mercury out (duh - seems so obvious now! I just didn't realize all the damage mercury does to the body). Unfortunately, I've still got my amalgams - my main focus now is getting the $ together to have them safely replaced. A challenge for me, in that I don't have any insurance, and I live on a tight budget as it is.

Urine therapy for endocrine issues, really? Hadn't heard that. I'm with David Wolfe on this one - urine isn't sterile, it contains toxic waste products, especially for those of us who are still challenged in some ways. I think urine homeopathy is a cool idea though... have meant to try that, but never have so far! Fermenting it - now that is a new one on me. I guess I can imagine adding a bit to a ferment of some sort. Hmmm...!

For me the financial barrier relates back to my health, it's only fairly recently that I have a stable situation and feel strong enough to do what I need to, to move forward financially - strong physically that is - enough energy. Knowing decidedly what the issue is helps a lot. Although I'm still perplexed as to what to replace my amalgams with. I was just listening to Daniel Vitalis and he echoed my own sentiment that there really aren't any "good" materials out there being used for dental fillings. All of them present potential issues. He has just opted not to get cavities filled (the ones he got from eating so much fruit as a natural hygienist ;) I wish I could just have the amalgams removed and leave it at that... I don't think that's an option for me though given the size of the holes that have been drilled in my teeth already!

P.S. I have a hard time sleeping without some nightcap food too. I was addicted to bananas and almond butter before bed, but I'm trying to phase it out by freezing bananas in the morning and then making raw ice cream at night.

hi stacey, I was doing Hatha Yoga, that involves asanas, prayanama, bandha and mudras. Apart from yoga we were taught Anatomy, Psychology, Philosophy etc., so that the students of this course could teach yoga and take it as a profession later.
