I love camping and backpacking but I have never camped or backpacked raw before. Aside from granola and trail mix, does anyone know of any good recipes or ideas for lunch and dinner? Thanks!
Hiya, I camped once early raw without preparation and it was a nightmare. The second time I was very prepared and took lots of things with me. In my cooler bag I put a jar of oil/vinegar/herb dressing and perhaps a seed pate to last the first day or two. I always bought fresh salad stuff and just made up a bowl and added my dressing/avocado etc. I also took dehydrated nori cheese snacks made before leaving, they went down a treat. And maybe some fruit/seed balls I made up.
I realised it is quite easy just to pick up a made up salad bag from a grocers and to grate carrot, add toms etc and a good dressing or tahini. Anyway, hope that's helped. If you're going by car you can always get a tribest blender and do your own smoothies. For convenience though, I would just have the occasional green drink using a powder like barley grass etc.
Enjoy! If you're not going to be near shops, be well prepared and it will be great.
Thanks! Yes car camping is a little easier and you usually have some sort of access to a grocer or know when you last chance to get groceries would be. The real challenge is backpacking because you need things that are lightweight and compact or something that you can rehydrate with water. I do like your idea of a green drink, that takes the pressure off of getting the veggies for the day and would be a nice snack for after a long hike. I will check out the tribest blender too, if it travels well, it would be good for smoothies for anytime we are on the road.
