Give it to me Raw

Are women more attracted into raw food than men??????

Just an observation I noticed... Most raw foodist website I know, women are usually pronominal. In Pot luck the same is happening. What's your opinion??? Why do you think so?? I mean I believe men are more intellectual and women are more... emotional.. Does it mean Raw food feels more good than it sounds??? I don't know how to put!!!

I think it has more to do with vanity than anything else. Women are more vain than men and they're attracted to that "raw glow." Just look at the group on this site: Raw Fashion, Glitz, and Glam! It's made up of almost entirely women, and I think it's the largest group on here.

Plus, men like their "manly" foods, like steaks and whatnot. Victoria Boutenko tells a story about how her husband resisted her raw food diet for years, insisting that he wouldn't eat "bunny food."

Sorry if I'm stereotyping but that's how I see it.

Maybe women are just more likely to talk about their diets and build parts of their social lives on them? Whereas men may just eat (raw).
Also women may have an easier time changing their diets b/c many of us (and sometimes men) grew up very diet-focused.

gosh, I hope not. After all we do need some sort of a balance between god & goddess energies. Sure, it helps to have female/motherly/more peacefull energies in our still male dominating world, but also I wish more men would get into their feminine side and raw foods sure help to get in touch with Mother Earth especially if you can grow your own food with your own hands, not some store bought so called organic produce. To buy food is easy , while touching your "children" grow in gardens have better healing remedies that paying paper money for it. And that is where the secret of balancing female & male energies is all about. There is nothing mucho about eating most expensive fruits off the shelf, Yet it is super male charge to get in touch with Mother Earth's children: FOOD.

As pot lacks go, let it be raw or just vegan, I've seen a balance there between guys & girls.

When I saw this thread I remembered hearing the same thing about vegans/vegetarians. In attempting to corroborate this via google I ran into a rather interesting explanation for the gender disparity in a Yahoo Answers thread:

"I think that's true of younger vegetarians - most are female. It's possible that some young men are afraid of being teased - some trolls on this forum are fond of suggesting that male veg*ns are gay.

By the time you get to my age though - 50s - it's evened out and it's about 50/50 in my experience. Probably because by that age you don't give a flying one what other people - especially ignorant and bigoted people - think of you.
"

I wonder how many male veg*ns, or for that matter male raw foodists, are "in the closet" about their dietary habits so to speak. Maybe the perceived correlation between homosexuality and veg*nism stems from straight guys being afraid to own up to being veg*n. Seems like a vicious cycle...

yes there is a lot of perceptions about eating meat being manly, and being vegetarian, let alone vegan being less than manly. Such rot! Raw vegan makes men so strong and gorgeous, I love raw vegan men.

Hi folks! I've been coaching people on their health choices for 20 years and have supervised water fasts for over 13. With more than 3800 clients over the years, nearly 70% have been women. And I can tell you that this is very common for alternative health practitioners of almost every kind (though prostrate specialist do seem to get more men for some reason...) I have spoken with many other people who are working with people every day and there seems to be a clear consensus that women are simply far more likely to take action to take care of themselves. Men are more likely to live (in denial) with problems and Not handle them; (at least until they get to the point that they become far more troublesome.)

Zoe, please don't talk about me on a public forum without my prior permission.

It's vanity. Scrawny, weak & lanky is usually associated with vegetarianism in the eyes of the public. Thats why most men won't even bother with that type of diet let alone raw. Females are normally concern about looking thin and are willing to try different diets.

How about you Danny? Do you think it makes you lanky?

I'm not a vegetarian but I do agree with the public. Vegetarian men are lanky. I've seen some pictures of the average vegetarian athletes, they all look to slim. I know there are vegan bodybuilders & few muscular athletes but they have to relay on to much supplements. Which IMO makes the diet flaw. Looks doesn't = health & in no way am I trying to start an argument but, that is why I believe men are turned off by a vegetarian diet.

Do you think of chlorella as a supplement even though it exists in nature?
