the ones i have seen, doesnt have any organic certification.
So, there's a big change?
What i know from Irradiation is:
Its recommended by the world health organisation because it reduces infections with bacteria.
Its done with cobalt60 & cesium137. Handy if you need a solution to get rid of the waste of nucleair products.
Irradiation causes a lost of vitamines sometimes up to 80% and changes the chemical structure of fats and proteins.
After irradiation food will look fresher and healthier as it really is on the inside.
...
A research done by the national institute of nutrition proofed that india kids, fed with irradiated grain shown a dna change.(!)
In europe irradiation must be mentioned at the products that are irradiated. Or the products contain 2% or less Cobalt 60 or Cesium 137, than there's no labeling required.
There's a list with food that is allowed to irradiated, i shall translate it later on.

They are all dipped in poison before the plastic wrapper is put on them.
No worries though, the cancer causing poisons are good for you and your industry-run government requires this because they care about you, so bottoms up with the young thai coco cocktails...
The thai coconuts are dipped in bleach so molding doesnt occur on their long journey.
We get ours from Florida, still in their green husks. They are not labeled organic either, but they are wild harvested.
Unless they are certified organic, most green coconuts have been dipped in formaldehyde as a anti-microbal/preservative so they can be shipped via a slower and cheaper method and stored for who knows how long on a store shelf.
I am unsure if the proposed rule to stop mandatory irradiation food labels has been voted on and passed, but I don't think it has. However, the new label for irradiating food looks as if it promoting some environmental protection issue and it very misleading. Here is a picture of t he label: http://www.loe.org/shows/segments.htm?programID=07-P13-00026&se...
wow thank you!! =D so is there ANY nutrition left in them?? enzymes?? vitamins?? do they do more bad than good now that they're treated?? they taste so good, i purchased mine at whole foods but i can't help the fact that they aren't organic. is there an organic source in california??
Dammit! I didn't even know this, so thanks for starting the thread and giving me this information. I read all the links, and will be looking for the "happily irradiated" symbol on foods. although I"m in Canada, so I don't know how much I'll see it. And I also buy anything I can organic.
BUT we gets lots of stuff from the US, and I'm pretty sure that what happens to coconuts that go to the US also happens to coconuts that come to Canada. I have never seen a young coconut that is organic here, so I guess that means I only get to eat them if I find them organically in the Us anymore. Dammit!
hey. i know it is a shame since coconuts really do have the potential to be the best foods ever for your health. one thing that i don't understand. i always here that there is supposed to be a label that says "treated with radiation or etc." anyways.... i have yet to see this label!! i've seen many baby thai coconuts that aren't organic that don't have this label at all. how do i find out if it has been irradiated 100%??
also i heard that food coming from a different country has to be irradiated as well.... does that apply to all fruit and vegetables as well?? if its irradiated does it make it raw??
hey! =D thanx for the site. i think for more people should be informed on this - its amazing whats up with the food everyones eating. eating raw is definitely the most nutritious but imagine the potential that the raw foods carry if they weren't hybridized, irradiated, or chemically grown. i think its a good idea to grow a bigger garden this year...
at least i heard that you can tell if the produce has been genetically engineered by looking at the 5 digit barcode. if the 5 digit bar code starts with:
