I have a good friend who was diagnosed with MS a few years ago. She's under a doctor's care and on medication but due to the progress of my own raw food journey (I do not have MS or any other life threatening illnesses but have gone to the next level with my health and have reported such at my blog), she wants to dip her toes into this way of life.
She's indicated interest in connecting with people with MS who are having success with the raw food lifestyle. We're both in Ohio (Akron/Cleveland).
How can my friend get in touch with you via email? Where do you live? If she could communicate with you via email or phone, that would be great. Perhaps you could inspire her with your own story of using raw food to overcome your medical conditions. Her name is Jen and she's the sweetest friend I have around here. She truly wants to get better. Thanks!
Wow, thanks so much for the feedback and information. I copied and pasted every word and passed it on to my friend, who I believe will find this wonderfully helpful.
You and the others who have written to me ROCK! I am so appreciative, thank you!
By the way, I noticed you have UK in your user ID. I was just in London two weeks ago for the first time!!! I anticipate going back again and again because I loved it and had a great time! :)
This guy, Matthew Grace, is a raw author and speaker. I've seen him talk live and he's brilliant. He's had MS and beaten it. He's also in the best shape of any raw foodist I've ever seen in my life. Read his biography on the link I included.
He follows a mostly fruitarian diet. It's almost like 80/10/10, except he eats 5 to 6 avocados a day.
WOW, that's totally RAWSOME. He's quite the muscular guy for someone who had and beat MS. I'll definitely forward this to my friend. Amazing. Thanks. :)
What is raw wine? No idea. I'm still not sure if wine counts as raw or not. I joined that group when this site first began, but I haven't actually drank wine (or any alcohol) in quite some time. I was still drinking red wine last year. I think my last alcoholic drink was during the Superbowl back in January. Not that I was trying to quit, but I lost my taste for it, which is what seems to happen the more raw you get.
I understand what you're saying - that's what happened with cigars. I had smoked cigars (one a day or thereabouts) for about 10 years. Loved it. Smoked it with my dad and brother. Sort of a ritual thing that I enjoyed. But I went to Dallas and London for business/pleasure which covered 2 weeks and I didn't have a cigar. Now that I'm home, I simply haven't had the desire to stop; at the cigar shop or order online. Amazing.
I'm not 100 percent raw but I would say that portion is substantial (perhaps 75 to 90 percent - hard to put a percentage on it). I stopped drinking for 12 years and then last year began to drink wine again. Like you said, I suspect the longer I'm raw, the less I'll have a taste for it myself but I haven't reached that point yet. But it'll be like what happened with my cigars - I didn't "give it up" - it just sort of happened naturally. Wine is probably next.
Good to connect with you - thanks. I haven't heard from my MS friend but I'm sure I will soon. I had been copying everyone in this thread and passing info on to her.
I agree with the dairy connection and MS, and that a raw vegan diet be the best way to approach it, with lots of greens fruit and fresh and nut and seed milks.
Thanks "Blueberry"! Appreciate it - I'll pass this on to her. BTW, I noticed you're from the UK....I was just there two weeks ago for the first time EVER and loved London! I want to go back soon.
COol! I just found out recently that many people with brain lesions in fact have them from eating MSG, or aspartame in processed foods. SO it is indeed possible that a good portion of folks diagnosed with MS, don't actually have it!
