I used to go to 4-5 gym classes a day in a row. I was high fruit mostly juice fasting. Then I switched to energy soups and hardly any fruit but papaya in my soups. I did it to lose weight. No sweet fruit pretty much. But I gained weight in the end. ANyways, I went all greens for about 4 weeks. I went to a gym class, it was abs class, the easiest one for me usually. I could not even finish hal;f of it, I was slower than the fat girls at the back. It taught me I could not be athletic and high greens. That is my story. But I wanted it to work and believed it was best for me, in the end it didn't work.

interesting Thundera....Im finding my energy so much better now,my 50km ride yesterday turned into 60kms cos i felt so freakn amazing and strong, and i burned 1200cals on that ride....phenomenal,im not dropping fruit right out, just eating enough fruit to give me what i need from the fruit...
the weight is literally falling off me,and so are my pants in two weeks,he he...and im NOT eating this way to lose weight....funny how we are all so different...on 811 i chubbed up even with training, and i would always run out of puff and food and feel cranky when i trained!

Thanks for sharing..:)

I'm athletic and I eat low fruit, high greens. You need calories to fuel your workout and to train hard. If those calories aren't coming from fruit then you can get them from an easily digested raw fat. Coconut, raw cream, raw butter, raw egg yolks, and avocados are all good. Nuts and seeds, too, but they should be sprouted first to ease digestion and even then they can weigh you down.

I eat sprouted buckwheat, too. It gives me carbs for energy that don't give me such a blood sugar spike as the sweet fruit.

Helloooo Rawstrength thanks for popping in :)

yeh im finding the raw fats fantastic for sure,i dont do animal fats, but im happy to hear thats working well for you :)
I soak the nuts before i eat them and i grind the seeds down to a fine powder, and find them easily digestible...
Avos are great for sure....

What sort of training do you do?

Yes i know Tim,and have seen this video...all raw foods have plenty of amino acids for protein, agreed! sometimes we need a little more protein than others..and im not talking animal protein. My real discussion is low fruit and high greens in an athletic context..

thanks :)

How much training are you talking about per week? I was training for IM Wisconsin last year after 1 year on 811. I was running 30+ miles, riding 130 and swimming 3 miles per week. I struggled to keep my weight up but my energy level was great. I am 6'1 and 165 ideal and was down to about 158. I am also 54 yo and been vegan 31yrs. Missed IM because of crash and bad concussion. This year I spent riding and racing. My first love. I average 175 miles per week, up to 225 in summer. Also run10-12 miles per week because I like to run. My weight has stayed steady all year and my energy level even better. Best thing I like is the recovery time after hard workout is so much shorter. I never have muscle soreness. Going raw, and especially 811 takes time. Years. Keep that in mind. I am only about 80% raw but almost all of that is fruit. Because of work and things I sometimes have a Chipotle for lunch. I consume about 2500 calories a day. Smoothie every morning. I often add hemp protein. I do better with a little protein because I have Hep C. Also had for about 30 years. I hope to be 100% raw jn another year and Do not get discouraged and experiment what works best for you.

hello Rob,thanks so much for replying...

i ride 100-150kms a week
i run 36kms a week
plus 2-3 hours of pilates and gym work, and trampolining

not sure what all of that is in miles,sorry..

ohh sorry you missed the IM,are you fully recovered now from the crash?ihope so :(

Ahh already in 2 weeks,i am noticing an improvement in my training,as i get more strong on my new way of eating,i can up my kms riding and running, this i find frustrating in the past, cos my will was there my body was too weak...and i was eating 4000cals a day...

I notice from yesterdays ride-60kms,i rode harder than i ever have, and my recovery was quicker and today only a little muscle soreness, compared to before eating 811.

I have been raw 6 years, with last year high raw 6 months,as i was searching for answers with my diet, little did i know their was a parasite residing within ,lol.

What is Chipotle?never heard of it...

I am eating around 2000-2400cals a day now,and that feels so satisfying..before i ate allll the time on 811...and yes i have done 811,3 times, each time for one full year at a time,3rd times a charm, its not for me....

thanks again for your input, and good luck on your journey :)

i too enjoy my protein now and a little maca each day in my smoothies...xo
