As i have just come off 811,12 months all 811...i am transitioning to lower fruit for health reasons...

i see alot of peeps eating lower fruit, yet i want to know if anyone seriously trains like i do,and how they eat and how they find their energy?

i find i must have some sweet fruit, have cut wayyyy down on my consumption, feeling really good actually, yet i can imagine cutting it down further,i am blogging my progress how im doing.

I learned a lot about athletic performance and running and the vegan diet from the book The Thrive Diet by Brendan Brazier. Its a really good book and my diet is pretty much the diet he describes in the book. I eat lots of greens, less fruits than greens and all different kinds of grains, nuts/seeds, oils etc. I have type 1 diabetes and I feel better when I get a little more protein and fat than 80/10/10, I have a really fast metabolism too so I need all the extra calories I can get or I start to loose weight fast. So The Thrive Diet is the book I learned the most from about how to eat when very active and an athlete, or even if your not active.

thank you i will check it out thank you so much Tony...I guess there cant be too many athletes eating low fruit around here lol ;)

I have a fast metabolism too...i am actually dropping weight very fast eating lower fruit, more greens nuts and seeds and coconut oil and avos, its amazing..shakes head...energy is really good, this im wrapped with, and the feeling of calmness is awesome...so steady emotionally, not all jittery and scattery as i was on 811....

Im so glad this is working for you Tony, hows the diabetes now?i had adrenal exhaustion and an overworked pancreas from eating high fruits and candida, and i rarely ate any overt fats...:( and i never slept well, now im sleeping like a baby, and its almost 2 weeks since i started my lower sugar program..
Do you eat things like dates?do you have protein powder and things like maca?what do you think of those?

do you eat oats?ARe you eating all raw? thanks so much for replying xo

Breakfast 6 days/week - 1/2 grapefruit, 1/2 cup blueberries, 1 green smoothie (apple, lime, ginger, greens), 1/2 thick slice Essene bread (my fave is the "Essene supreme" rye-wheat)

Lunch every day - 1 ear corn (raw, naturally!), 1.5 thick slices Essene bread, 1-2 bananas depending on size

Before dinner - 1-3 stalks celery, 1/2-1 Lebanese cucumber

Dinner 5-6 days/week - BIG "super salad" (mesclun + rocket, grated purple cabbage + carrot, red capsicum, avo, nori) with "Budwig"-style dressing (~250gm fat-free yoghurt with 1dssp flaxseed oil stirred thru)

After dinner - 1/4 cup flaxseeds freshly ground (I just eat it plain, from the bowl), 1 cup herb tea

Weekend cooked breakfast - grapefruit + blueberries, then poached eggs with baked beans, steamed spinach + grilled tomatoes

Weekend cooked dinner - Asian style "stir-steamed" (not fried) dishes with brown rice (pre-soaked for 24hrs, yum!)

I've found by trial and error that I need to have ALL of the above (including the flaxseed) in order to feel good - I'm not an athlete like you, RGG, I just run 5kms 3X/week - but still, if I ever feel weak or in need of more calories after exercise, I've found the best is to eat more Essene bread and MAYBE an extra banana (1 only!) rather than more of other foods. The grounding from the daily bread and dairy is VERY important for me - boy, can I ever relate to the sleep issue, on 100% raw it was an utter nightmare (literally!), the most unrefreshing sleep imaginable, instant dark circles and looking more tired every day!

Special occasions with friends or family - I try to make the best possible choices from what is available, avoiding non-organic meat and refined starches especially (relatively easy if it's at a restaurant!). I figure it's not what you eat 1% of the time that counts, and happy times with loved ones are also important for your health!

Hi Rawzilla, I have been raw vegan since Jan this year and have started Body Ecology today to try and help with a few problems that haven't diminished since going raw. I also have an autistic son and like to try programs out on myself before subjecting him to them. Are you doing all raw vegan body ecology and if so would you mind me asking what a typical days food intake would be for you? I am just trying to get my head around the no fruit and nut thing while I am in the early stages. Do you know if Kombucha tea is allowed? I have the book but can't find any mention of it.
Thanks

RG Goddess and Nicole,

Here's what I eat, basically. I'm strictly following the BED.

Cultured veggies are very important on this diet. They are medicine.

Prebreakfast: probiotics with BED Cocobiotic drink or other BED probiotic drink. Warm teas and waters.

Breakfast (usually egg yolks, barely cooked), raw salad, raw cultured veggies, seaweed sautéed in coconut oil, maybe a steamed veggie.

Lunch: Large raw salad with cultured veggies, a little warm soup, some fish or meat.

Dinner: A lot like breakfast, but maybe a grain instead of animal protein.

Now I feel good with a "light" belly and light body and light mind. It's easy to eat just enough and stay light and free.

my magic bullet burnt out, it was good for travelling while I had it though. Can you get a second hand blender? The cheaper ones I have used don't chop up the greens as well. Try to get something with a higher wattage, like 1000watt.

Yes I have also been known to have eyes bigger then my stomach... I'm sure that your choice has brought you a lot more attention then you wanted and some attention you never wanted. Life is just a series of mistakes. It's what we learn from them...
