to each his own, probably :)
tho ultimately they're limitations
even weed, i mean... it can do it's thing and it helped me. but, in my opinion, it probably leads to a block, a place that one can go (consciousness wise) and it helps if you release it. at the same time i read in some (very unreliable source probably :-p) something about the historic buddha smokin lots of ganja herb, or maybe it was some legend with shiva.
in any case,
and i probably should re-read what i just wrote :)
my verdict: will limit consiousness experience after a point (though can help get you to...that point)

I drink beer sometimes. I come from a culture of beer drinkers, a Maine fishing town. So originally I didn't realize zhe negative effects. For me now, it is about moderation. I find if i go out and drink too many I have a real hard time sticking with living foods as the dehydration and the poor sleep quality beg for quick burning complex carbs. My personal assesment. ON the other hand, psychopsilocybin, mushrooms, boomers whatever, I think they only enhance one's spiritual journey, but there is a time and a place. Ganja... Dig it! Natures best medicine, unfortunately it involves a lot of plant fiber inhalation which can not be argued to be positive, but its the cure for what ails me. Oh and also, when you wanna party, try vodka with water, its the cleanest alcohol you can put in your body watered down. And I dont think any raw foodist can properly argue against rock n roll!
Cool. The rock n roll was just added to tag the end of the title, just seemed to fit. It also interested me to know just how many of us have come from drug and alcohol pasts. The like mindedness (word?) of people who are drawn to this way of life. When I was younger I was always looking for something and chasing the high. Raw food, when I do it right gives me a similar high and obviously one that is better for me. I also come from a beer culture (kiwi and a publician's daughter) and alcohol was a big part of my life until 7/8 years ago. However since going raw, I have pretty much lost interest mainly for reasons you have stated above. Its pretty hard not to think of a cold beer though on days like today when the temp was 30 odd degrees :)
