Aching feet in the mornings... Plantar Fasciitis sef-diagnosis... HELP

Does anyone know anything about this? Remedies... anything?

I self-diagnosed myself with Plantar Fasciitis. My dad apparently has it as well which I didn't know, however, I am 19 years old and want to do whatever I can to reverse it because it is inconvenient, painful, and interfering with my training routines.

I would wake up in the morning and hobble down the hallway to the bathroom only to be laughed at by my roommates. I had a persistent aching in my feet feeling as if they had both been bee stung. I thought I was over training and it would go away, but it has only progressed and now my right foot is swollen and I can hardly walk on it.

I have very high arches in my feet and understand that I need high arch support and should be resting on my toes.... any ideas/help?

Do you wear flip-flops? They are a major cause- the flat footbed plus the gripping your toes do causes a tightening of the achilles tendon.
There are stretching exercises you can do that will help (my husband does them). http://www.plantarfasciitisbraces.com/plantar_fasciitis_stretching_...

Ooh, I hope someone replies, because I think I have something similar, due to over training with my running...I think it's healing, but when it first happened, it felt like that!

Erin's link is very good - it is usually the achille's tendon, rather than the actual foot, so lots of calf/achilles tendon stretching can make a big difference.
The swelling is a concern - THAT is not common with Plantar Fasciitis. Swelling can sometimes be made worse with really tight muscles, so the stretching might help, but really, I think you should get a professional to look at it,

is this still an issue for you? if so, i highly recommend reading The Divided Mind by Dr. John Sarno. I suffered from Plantar Faciitis for almost 15 years in both of my feet.

Was told that I had slight arthritis and tarsal tunnel in my ankles. I was in and out of the doctor for weeks. He put me on pain killers (that I took for less than a week) and sent me to physical therapy for 6 weeks. Also bought all kinds of Forest Gump type boots and contraptions to sleep in. Bought all kinds of equipment to stretch my calves and gel inserts for my heels. None of them helped me. He started to suggest surgery, which I was totally against.

I heard about this book and it helped me to heal myself. I wasn't able to walk on hardwood floors barefoot. I'd have to ice my feet after working out for a half hour. Rolling my foot on a tennis ball was one of the most excruciating things for me. All of that pain is now gone.

If you want more info about the book or have any questions, please feel free to hit me up.

I have been through almost the EXACT thing as you...I used to be a dancer, and I developed plantar fasciitis in my right foot because of overwork...and i'm sure it had a lot to do with my high arches too. I'm not a doc but I'm pretty sure people with high arches are prone to this sort of thing.

Anyways, I hate to say it, but this is going to be a somewhat lingering injury if you do not take the time to let it heal. I'm talking about a few weeks atleast with no activity...Then work your way up slooowly...I know from experience that if you stress it again too soon then it will come back worse than before. I know this happened to me on and off for the first year I dealt with this because I was under tremendous pressure to dance in my competitions and recital through the pain...I will say I was eating typical SAD back then so maybe that changes things a bit.

On a positive note I do know that since I've been changing my diet in the past 2 years, I have not had problems with my foot. Try and lightly stretch your foot out a few times a day. Maybe roll over your arches with tennis balls or something like that, because my foot with PF tends to be a bit tighter than my other foot.

He's still my hero, but I heard the guy was tyrannical and cruel to his family and co-workers. Marlon Brando talked about what a douchebag he was in his book; still though, comic genius.

OK, I guess to me getting rid of anger and envy and fear in ones self before being able to externalize it on a corporate scale just seems common sense as opposed to religious. Is that really religious? Or is it just that he is a Yogi addressing th...

Rome was AWESOME, another fantastic HBO series. True Blood is also pretty cool, but I read the books so it's bittersweet for me. Did anyone else catch Carnivale? That was really well done as well.

For a sore throat I mix salt into warm water and gargle with it. Then a warm drink with honey (nut milk, tea). Be well.
