Give it to me Raw

i am going to ease my dad into telling him i am going to be eating differently from now on- he will freak i think- i personally prefer simple meals like salads, nuts, dates, whole things and sweet desserts but i dont think i could just have these in front of him. can anyone suggest any acceptable, substantial meals i could make/take to his when i join him for dinner?

My boyfriend was skeptical in the beginning, but I made some yummy raw (hearty) soups, and he changed his tune. So serve him a soup and salad combo. Get on dessert detail too and make him some amazing cacao treats...EVERYONE loves chocolate!

I find it really funny that parents prevent their kids from eating healthy. I went through the same thing in High School. My best advice is try not to make an issue of it, and just tell him your not hungry when he tries to get you to eat more. Maybe say you had a big lunch? idk. hope it works out for you!

Take tuns of fruit, I means loooads...more than he's ever seen at one place at any given time lol
Who can argue against fresh, ripe, juicy fruit??
Just say you're trying this for a while and see how it goes, no one would freak over a statement like that I believe.

.....he will also see the improvements in your health and well being over time and this will be the biggest selling point by far ;)

I always feel a pang of compassion for younger people who still are either living at home or are in that stage of still having a child/parent relationship with their parents.

I know when I went veg (as a 21 year old adult) I copped lots of flack from my family, but at that stage I had been living out of home for years and was independent. I can't imagine how hard it'd be for someone to try raw at an early age when independence is yet to come (not that this is definitely your case).

Just expect you might cop a bit from your dad, but odds on it's coming from a place of caring and concern, so take it that way and it'll make you feel better.

And just relax, being you shouldn't shame or stress you, just eat what you feel and make the odd stellar dish to wow the olds!

here's something my brother has been having lately that looks really filling and substantial. he gets a big jumbo salad bowl and fills if with a lettuce mix, avocado, macadamia nuts, tomatoes or sun dried tomatoes, cucumber, sprouts, carrot, celery and makes a dressing. i want to make this and eat one every day. salads are simple and quick i don't always go for salads because i make small ones that don't satisfy me but this big bowl of salad with some body from nuts or avocadoes makes me really want to go for salad. other things you could do is maybe some crackers with a salad and a dip that you make in big batches so its ready to grab and go.

That's the sort of salad I eat! I have a mixing bowl that I'll use for salads. It's about 1.5 quarts in size, but plenty of room to toss everything in - mixed greens, nuts, seeds, dried fruit, avocadoes, tomatoes, assorted veggies, scallions, tasty dressing over it all... yum, yum!

alison, also quietly track your eating at someplace like nutritiondata.com so that if there is any question about you possibly not getting enough nutrients, you can show them your tracking and put their minds at ease.

Hi Nicole, We don't need any salt at all, and in fact it's always toxic to the body. Salt is a rock, and no matter how small we smash it, it is an inorganic mineral which our bodies cannot really use. Organic sodium is needed by ever single cell ...
