I have tried to find a forum or a post about bowel moments, but no luck, so I thought I would ask again. I do apologize if this has already been discussed. But.. how do you get a solid stool when you are raw? Im still un-solid, and found the only way to get any kind of solidity is to eat something cooked. :(
"The nutrition in apple such as pectin (a soluble fiber) can control cholesterol by interfering with cholesterol absorption in the bowel, and if you suffered diarrhea, pectin in the apple is a natural diarrhea medicine that helps to solidify stool. "
Normally.. my breakfast is a smoothie. the green is either spinach, Kale or leafy lettuce. (here lately it has been mostly spinach). The fruits that go into the smoothie are usually 2 bananas, strawberrys and blueberrys. But I have noticed that about 30 minutes after drinking my smoothie, im in the bathroom. It helps me to go first thing in the morning. Im afraid to drink them at work.. cause I don't like to go poo at work. lol. >.>. Then.. I snack on some pumpkins seeds before my first break.. which is about 4-5 hours after breakfast. I then have an apple. Then.. before lunch, which is about 2 hours after my first break, I either have another handful of seeds, or some of these yummy herb seed crackers I found at the health food store. Then, lunch is a huge salad topped with 1 avacado, tomatoes, cucumbers, mushrooms, sprouts and dressing. I also have a banana or an orange for desert. I then snack on some more nuts or pumpkins seeds (since they are the easiest thing to have at work since we are not really supposed to have food at our desk), and then for my next snack is either some kind of fruit or a cacao/ or fruit bar I get at the health store. mmmm. I get home, and I eat whatever I can find. Sometimes its another salad, sometimes its a nuked bean burritoe or some basmati rice w/indian food.. or some fruit if im not really that hungry. And.. this is about what I eat everyday. Kinda getting tired of eating the same foods really, but Im not very inventful, and there are not alot of good food here in Joplin Missouri. :( I do also find that after work, I have to go to the bathroom really bad. Eh..
Sounds like detox to me. I know that I've had that happen to me on several occassions when I consume something very nutrient rich. I would recommend drinking more water and eating more fiber rich foods. I hope you feel better and have more regular movements soon!
when i transitioned to raw i noticed that never had problems with the runs, but i think that was because i transitioned from a mostly vegan diet so the change wasnt too stressfull for my body. if you have made a big transition from a sad diet the runny stool could be your body's way of clearning out all the muck that was inside. i say .... if you feel ok then dont worry. make sure you are drinking enough liquids and just ... go with the flow (no pun intended!!)
I feel fine, and I have been a vegetarian for the past 4 years. (althought there have been a few times when I have eaten fish). The stool problem is the only detox symptom I have really had actually. Is that normal? to not have much detoxing?

Are you eating anything like sprouted buckwheat groats? what is your water intake like? Are you drinking between meals, like 30 minutes (or more) before a meal and 2 hours (or more) after - 3 liters or so? What about exercise? Do you exercise regularly? Are you able to at least take a walk during the day and stretch a bit, just to get things moving around and assist your digestion? Maybe your body just needs time, though, to adjust to the new diet. Sometimes, too, you just need to detox before things become consistent.
I have found that I do not drink as much water as I did when I was not mostly raw. I have to remember to drink it now. I don't excersise as much as I should.. but more than I was. No, I am not eating sprouted buckweat groats.

I jumped into being 100% percent and had the same kinda thing during my detox. It went away in less than a month. My recommendation, though it might be extreme, is to just jump into it 100% and get the detox over with. Unless, you aren't planning on doing 100% raw in the future. Then, disregard that. Haha.
hmm.... I had the exact opposite happen when I went raw. I had diarrhea every day for the past 15 years~ and now I only go 2x a week. I find I can only go after I cheat and eat some simple cooked food like brown rice, or black beans. Greens and bananas really back me up
I saw the friday night lectures, since they were online for free.
