Give it to me Raw

So Im starting 811 now and starting to see benefits. I live in Canada and although the weather is awesome now, I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on staying raw on 811 in the winter?

agreeeeeed....thanks for the info! Just listen to your body, when Im feeling really hot because of the weather, I go for something juicy and refreshing, so I guess its about building/trusting intuition as well :)

I agree that the specific content of our diet naturally varies with the seasons, but not the nature of our diet. We're not frugivores in the summer and omnivores in the winter. That doesn't make any sense, unless you have a magical transformative intestinal tract :).

It is my belief, based on research and experience, that humans are omnivores.
Many omnivores in nature eat different types of diets at different times of the year. Bears eat mainly forbs (young tender green leaves) when they come up in the spring, then will eat almost exclusively berries in the early summer, and lots of fish in the autumn. Bears in captivity fed a consistent diet year round suffer from many of the same ills that unhealthy humans do (cancer, atherosclerosis, etc.)

yep. people spend so much on heating their home's that it'd be cheaper to move to the tropics according to some. i think we're all naturally drawn to the tropics. its where we belong.

The best way to get through the winter is to eat more sprouts.

> What I noticed was that when I went 811 my eczema flared up alot!!

That happened to me too. I switched to eating Ann Wigmore Energy Soup and my eczema disappeared.

I'm a raw foodist in a cold climate - not 811 - and these are some strategies that have helped me.I find that strength training exercise keeps me warmer than aerobic exercise. And it builds muscle, which helps warm you even more. Foods grown in cold climates help keep you warm, foods such as maca, flax seeds and fish oil. When I eat more local foods, I find that I have less trouble adapting to the local climate - I don't get too hot or too cold.
