So Im starting 811 now and starting to see benefits. I live in Canada and although the weather is awesome now, I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on staying raw on 811 in the winter?
agreeeeeed....thanks for the info! Just listen to your body, when Im feeling really hot because of the weather, I go for something juicy and refreshing, so I guess its about building/trusting intuition as well :)
I agree that the specific content of our diet naturally varies with the seasons, but not the nature of our diet. We're not frugivores in the summer and omnivores in the winter. That doesn't make any sense, unless you have a magical transformative intestinal tract :).
It is my belief, based on research and experience, that humans are omnivores.
Many omnivores in nature eat different types of diets at different times of the year. Bears eat mainly forbs (young tender green leaves) when they come up in the spring, then will eat almost exclusively berries in the early summer, and lots of fish in the autumn. Bears in captivity fed a consistent diet year round suffer from many of the same ills that unhealthy humans do (cancer, atherosclerosis, etc.)
yep. people spend so much on heating their home's that it'd be cheaper to move to the tropics according to some. i think we're all naturally drawn to the tropics. its where we belong.
Thanks so much!!! That episode was awesome!!!! Im going to try that pronto, as soon as my avocados ripen.... thats to funny because I just picked some purslane from my yard not knowing what it is, now I know :)
Im also gonna add some more fermented foods as I've been reading Body Ecology lately....
thnks for all the advice guys!!!!
I'm a raw foodist in a cold climate - not 811 - and these are some strategies that have helped me.I find that strength training exercise keeps me warmer than aerobic exercise. And it builds muscle, which helps warm you even more. Foods grown in cold climates help keep you warm, foods such as maca, flax seeds and fish oil. When I eat more local foods, I find that I have less trouble adapting to the local climate - I don't get too hot or too cold.
Nothing in particular....just wondering if anyone had any tips for staying raw (with the best produce) in the winter....Ive stopped 811 and now am leaning more toward Body Ecology and im loving it :)
Thanks!
I've started this group in order to find and link with people who eat raw food in and around London too. We can share ideas and books, meet up for potlucks and even go out for meals together

Being open is the way (tao...) to freedom...
I don't know if you can open up someone with your concepts who is not predestined for it ....
but in these cases it may be possible to open up someone with the best raw food ever..?
