In less then a year I have had 3 cavities. Any ideas as to why this is happening. I take very good care of me teeth....I floss and brush several times a day. It's disheartening to be eating the 'best food' yet have my teeth deteriorating. I love raw food and feel wonderful eating this way but am concerned that it is not the best thing for my body.
Do you mind sharing the title of the David Wolfe book? I would be interested in reading about this as I have very few options (like I mention in my first post, I take very good care of my teeth as far as brushing/flossing, etc. is concerned). Thanks.
I really wish my cavities were caused by something other than a silicone deficiency, because not only do I eat many silicon-rich foods everyday, but I was also supplementing with Silica for about 6 months (stopped using it a few months ago).
What confuses me is that I was on a VERY poor diet before (and didn't take care of my teeth), but the problems started showing up after going raw. It makes no sense. I literally lived on canned beans, coke, chips, processed veggie-meat, pasta and beer for close to 10 years. Before that it was just as bad, but minus the beer and add meat and dairy!
Maybe when you are eating that other stuff the teeth harden and become brittle and not hospitable to bacteria and when you gave yourself nourishment they softened up and became suseptible to everything. I worked with a guy from Mexico who had only been here for a couple years who had the most beautiful teeth and asked him about it one day. He said- you know we just ate a lot of fruits and vegetables and to be honest I never brushed my teeth as a kid. My village didn't get things like that- toothpaste would have been a luxury item we couldn't afford anyway. I was shocked. Yes people can have perfect teeth without brushing them. He also drank local water with no chlorine or fluoridation. They didn't get candy or refined sugar in that area either.
I suppose that could be the case, but why are we putting in so much effort if the side effect of nourishment is poor health? It seems like a contradiction to me. :(
I think the damage had already been done and may have been in the process of reversing. The dentist is only trained to see things from one perspective- making money and deterioration.
If you read Nutrition and Physical Degeneration by Weston A. Price you can learn about societies around the world where people don't brush but don't get cavities. The societies have many very different diets but they all share some key elements. They all eat some form of fermented food and raw animal food. They eat lots of wild food and no processed foods. These are keys to teeth health and overall health.
The Sunfood Nutrition Guidebook--nice chapter in there on demineralization of the teeth. This just baffled my dentist, but like i said it peaked about 10 or so months after being raw and I never had another problem. I really pumped up the greens, but i must say i don't pay as much attention as i should to balancing the "triangle" of raw foods at each meal. Without realizing it, breakfast is always fruit, lunch is heavier with raw fats and dinner is almost always greens.
This is what my mom recommends too. The thing is I live in a high-rise building in NYC, so I'm definetely not "grounded".
The grounding bed technology makes sense, but it doesn't feel natural to me. Has anyone tried it? Did you notice any changes...
