Give it to me Raw

Girls! Raw food diet and low estrogen levels? Or any difference in Girly things? Also join my group RAW WOMEN

Has anyone experienced low estrogen levels while being a raw vegan. Also, if anyone has any good and specific sources about the link between hormones and diet I would be greatly appreciative. I've read all the big books so I'm really looking for specifics (and yes I have a doctor, this is just more research). Also looking for info that is NOT menopause related.

This is turning out to be a fascinating topic and I am learning so much. I had no idea about any of these effects of a raw vegan diet on us women! Sounds like things just keep getting better! I will post a roundup of information this weekend on my blog (www.buellerskitchen.com) in my "girls corner" . This is where I discuss everything girly about everything I have found as I continue my mad research. I'll also include what people have shared here as well as links, books, references, etc. so we can all keep learning as there doesn't seem to be much out there on this topic. I think it'd be nice to have a bunch of resources in one place, don't you?

I've created a group called Raw Women. I hope all you ladies will join!

Thank you everyone! This is awesome!

Who is Erin? Is she on here? thanks.
You really want to get "supercritically extracted" fish oil. They use liquid carbon dioxide and it removes more impurities than ditillation without oxidizing or heating the oil. There really isn't a reason to use fish oil "for good measure" unless you have a genetic glitch that prevents you from converting ALA.

How would I know if I have a glitch? That's why I take it "for good measure" I can feel my mood slide toward anxious when I don't take fish oil . I can't really afford for the depression to come back in full force.

Maybe I'll try coconut with flax for a week and see though, for sure.

Chaste Tree berry really helped me to be regular. I really like the one from Vitanica. I'm now regular to the day almost. It's crazy. I'm still working on my estrogen levels though so i'm excited about the oil.

Who knows if that what it is. I went for a colonic about a month ago and the therapist told me that I was very gassy and should cut back on fruit and do more greens but I loooooove my sweets!

yeah fruits are divine sweets...
i cannot imagine giving up fruits....gawdd!!! i hope i never have to!!!
but what is the general verdict really like on the relationship between fat and periods...?!!! i still dont get it!
its as if, long term raw equals no periods but you still ovulate~???
i have not yet been able to determine whether i ovulated or not.its getting complicated for me!

I'm far from long term. 2nd month for me. I thought low fat caused loss of menstruation but I have been having plenty of nuts, avos, coconut, etc.

You definitely ovulated, but instead of making waste, you just recycled your blood :)

I realise that this is only someone's opinion but thought I'd throw it out there....

When I went to see a herbalist a few weeks ago she said that it was the calorie restriction that had stopped my period i.e. nature's way of saying you can't get pregnant just now because obviously there isn't enough food around to provide for you let alone a baby. Anyway so she thinks my body is therefore not ovulating to stop me getting pregnant and that on a prolonged basis this is quite dangerous and could lead to polycystic ovaries.

I realise there hasn't been much research (if any) done on raw and periods but it did make me wonder as I could see the logic in the whole body not wanting to get pregnant thing... I guess that ties in with the eating lots of seeds and nuts giving you a period again because that is more sustainable for mother and child...
