Give it to me Raw

I dunno, but I've lost over 100 pounds since summer '06, and my Dad recently busted out the "Auschwitz" look comment, and my ex-gf a similar comment, and I do feel a little too light, even though I feel incredible and I'm so clear, and purposeful. I want to put on weight, but getting back in the gym has a different meaning when you're doing yoga and outdoors instead, and the acid buildup after heavy weights is tough. Is anybody else feeling like they're lost too much weight?

I am by no means too thin. I have lost a bunch of weight to get into the normal range but I didn't start wasting away at all. In fact I was considering eating mostly fruit for a while to see if that helps me lose more. I haven't been downing jars of nut butter or anything. But I do eat crackers when I make them, avocados- etc. But not every day. Not even the people I work with really believe I'm a vegan much less a raw vegan.

I recently looked at calories for some raw staple foods and found that a cup of flax is about 800 calories!! If you are eating a few crackers and a flax bagel it can add up fast. I just thought flax went right through you because of all the fiber - but maybe it doesn't..

I also make soups and salad dressings with a small handful of nuts plus vegetables. I am pretty active as far as working but haven't been running or anything like that. I don't plan on running either so I need to figure out what I can do to keep my energy up but cut down somehow. It's hard for me to believe that a small handful of nuts could be keeping me from losing anymore weight.

So if you need any advice on gaining weight you could try what I have been eating!!

Go away from the "pack" do what feels good and is right for you. Trust me on this one. Do not let the voices on the outside, take away from the voices on the inside.

i recommend just pushing weights...i also am to skinny but i don't seem to get strong lactic acid buildup since being raw. Maybe just do weights and slow down on cardio for the time being.

I agree with Raw Dance. You can certainly lift weights while eating raw. I think light weights, body weight exercises and plyometrics are a fantastic compliment to the raw lifestyle. I even have 1 heavy weight day each week. I am a bit sore afterward but nothing different from the norm. I have been lifting heavy weights for 18 yrs, but decided to just cut back to 1 heavy weight day since eating raw. I find that my body is more naturally sculpted and I don't need to lift so much now. I will say; I still haven't found the right balance for keeping weight on, myself. I think I may burn more calories than I consume (which is a large reason why I’m not 100% raw). RawTastic's ideas sound good to keep weight on. I’m going to give them a try myself.

No, not too skinny, but I do eat alot of fruit, dried fruit and nuts so that's probably why, plus alot of green smoothies. I am not strictly vegan either as I have goats cheese sometimes. But I feel purer, cleaner and healthier and have lost weight in a good way.
