Give it to me Raw

I dunno, but I've lost over 100 pounds since summer '06, and my Dad recently busted out the "Auschwitz" look comment, and my ex-gf a similar comment, and I do feel a little too light, even though I feel incredible and I'm so clear, and purposeful. I want to put on weight, but getting back in the gym has a different meaning when you're doing yoga and outdoors instead, and the acid buildup after heavy weights is tough. Is anybody else feeling like they're lost too much weight?

At 5'10 and 124 lbs I know what you're saying! I have battling this for quite a while the two things that help me put on weight right away is nut bread, nut ice creams, and my nut mud pies. Also, the green smoothies are great when you add an avocado and tablespoon of coconut butter. I second that of the mineral supplements, particularly Alkalive Blue by Ph Ion. They are all on my blog (http://www.buellerskitchen.com). Also, more avocados through out the day and hemp seeds.

I have been there also, but I have been struggling with raw food for 24 years, been healthy, been too thin, and now want to loose weight and be healthy again. I read that nuts can increase thyroid activity and make you burn calories faster. I read about a woman 5'5", raw foodist in a Dr Kirshener book, I have, that lived on a gallon of Norwalk juicer pressed, raw juice, 130lbs which she came up to from 65lbs of near death, from not being able to tolerate cooked foods. She also added salads with avocado, sunflower sprouts, (also some fruit I think in the morning.) Also there is a story of a starving child and pictures of both of these people and how they gained weight. The child was 2 and headed to die, also. It tells how he started gaining with Norwalk pressed juices that are thicker & healthier then other juicers juices. It say the boy grew into a tall healthy 6' something man on raw food. I have had trouble losing from using raw olive oil in my salad, it made me loose no weight.

That's really interesting Joy. What book is that?

Live Food Juices, by Dr. H.E. Kirshner, he was friends with Dr Norman Walker.

oh yeah...i've even had a few doctors tell me I can't do raw foods since i'm underweight for my height..i'm about 5'4ft. and last time I checked I was around 90-95lbs. :/
I GUESS that's really skinny, but I feel great on mostly raw foods...and eat a shitload of nuts and dense foods, in addition to loads of greens and fruit...so I'm not too worried about it.
As for the acid buildup after weights, i've never had that problem...and I lift weights 4-5 times a week in addition to good cardio 5-6 times a week...

haha. thanks!
see, I tell people all the time it only SOUNDS thin, because it's under 100lbs..but I have a small frame so it doesn't look weird (at least I don't think so). Despite my lack of ass and boobs, I'm very comfortable with my weight. :]

protein powders at 8?! that's insane!
I know, my mom thinks "raw veganism" is a cop out excuse and an eating disorder...then again, not to stereotype, but I come from a hardcore traditional spanish/hispanic/indian family..so EVERYONE eats meat and cheese, and thinks you have a problem with food if you don't eat what they do. haha.

hahaha.
they call me wetta too! "AYE MEIJA!YOU DONT WANT NO CHEEZ OR CARNE ASADA?"
My aunt spent 3 hours trying to convince me that carnitas didn't really count as meat. haha

ahh yes..the annual tamale making..haha, we do that too. (of course, which hispanic house doesn't during the holidays? haha) I still help out making them, and even though I won't eat them..the smell of the masa and chile is intoxicating at times. hah :]

ah, yeah..my dad actually put a USDA organic sticker on a container of butter, and then tried to (VERY unsucessfully) "trick" me into eating it...as the sticker was falling halfway off. hahaah
I can really relate to this. I, too, had spent YEARS perfecting each and every recipe until I had the perfect flavor in each dish... then I became a vegetarian. So first it was taking out the meat. OK, still had the dairy and eggs so it wasn't too bad. Then vegan... it was heartbreaking! Do you know how bad lasagna sucks with soy cheese?! It was learning how to cook all over again.

Next thing you know, I'm taking COOKING out of the process all together! I felt lost for the first little while, but I'm getting the hang of it. Do I miss knowing my way around the kitchen? Of course I do! I had about 20 years of experience learning how to cook the best tasting meat and dairy based dishes out there. But I have decided to rise to the challenge. There have been MANY food combinations that I've created that would have been best left in theory. However, with each recipe that I try that turns out being a whole new flavor sensation in my mouth, and at the same time makes me feel great, I'm reminded of why I do this.

"This too shall pass...." :-)
Yeah, I went to school especially to learn about cooking, cause my mom was the canned food , cardboard box , Betty Crocker, Chef Boy R D (however you spell that), and Oreo lady. Or we would go out to nice restaurants, when I was a kid and both sets of grandparents, could cook. I did study nutrition and had friends that were vegetarian, and raw so that was really wonderful. But learning to prepare food now has to be an experiment in non-cooking and has helped me in the past. I am returning to raw foods which I learned about 27 years ago, and struggled with for years raising my sons. The discussion about -Sarmas soft corn tortilla recipe is great and something I cant wait to try, and all the recipes for raw foods now, are so wonderful.
I'm six feet tall and just went under 150 pounds again (was this weight until I joined the Army back 18 years ago) - it wasn't a big stretch for me, but I think I'm going to be going to add another smoothie to my diet every day in the hopes of getting back up to around 170.

they gossip about which teams are going to trade or sign star players. Most of it is bullshit. They just create rumors to sell papers / get hits. Still I eat it up.

Hi agree with Erin, everything she suggested is very similiar to wha ti have found. I am also seeing an accupuncturist and realize that we actually need cooked foods in our diet to support the spleen. Healing with whole foods is a great start..

I've been doing some "research" on ear candling, and have found three different reports: 1) it's great, feels great, and really helps to clear out the sinuses/lymphs 2) it feels great, but that's just the warmth and it doesn't actually do anything...
