Give it to me Raw

I dunno, but I've lost over 100 pounds since summer '06, and my Dad recently busted out the "Auschwitz" look comment, and my ex-gf a similar comment, and I do feel a little too light, even though I feel incredible and I'm so clear, and purposeful. I want to put on weight, but getting back in the gym has a different meaning when you're doing yoga and outdoors instead, and the acid buildup after heavy weights is tough. Is anybody else feeling like they're lost too much weight?

i lost a ton of weight when i went raw for the first 6 months and basically was the lightest i'd been since a freshman in high school! (145!) it kinda sucked, i had issues with being so light... and then after awhile i realized it was a lot of "bad" weight that i dropped. now i'm 6' and roughly 160. as i continue to tone up i hope to gain 5 to 10. but i no longer lose weight by eating "less" or being 100% raw. it's a serious process being on living foods. i've heard it's really good to eat a lot of fats at night and you can retain fat that way. just what i heard. sounds worth trying. oh and i eat plenty of fats anyway. word!

Yeah I think it's that high school weight again, and when your years beyond high school, it's just a shock. Went through the "puffy muscle" phase and now lean again. I think it's just the shock of it all. Fats at night is great, adding more green smoothies and juices sounds like a plan too. I'm forgetting the great oils, hemp oil was unbelievable in my first smoothies.

I know what you mean, like as if we're not supposed to be this way.

I was losing my curves, so I incorporated this weird little pizza into my life; I have it once a week. I purchase these organic, non-gmo corn pizza crusts(Vicolo?) that I cover with raw pesto and raw mozarella, bake, and devour. I seem to be maintaining my weight now. I also tend to be slighter in build over the warm months, so you figure it out! LOL!

Hi ally

you might like to join the Raw Women group and ask your question there ... could be a good starting point. Re losing weight, check out the Transformations group - lots of stories and advice :)

Yeah, but to get somewhere like Mel Gibson, Danny Devito who's married to the one who played Carla on Cheers, David Spade, or a Cusack or an Arquette, you probably need some brains. Most actors are probably underweight and have some edgyness to their personality, not sooo much hot, but confident and charming. There is a book called -the art of flirting- I think for corporate people, it is how to be attractive regardless of looks. If you think it is about looks then you ought to look at being a male model, cause they are always looking for men to model things.

Check out the raw food website: www.howigainedweight.com

This lists in detail, how a raw food woman/teenage called Abbey, managed to gain weight on raw.

I think there might also be information on her somewhere on this forum here.

Good luck,

Eve

I love being what society thinks as skinny.....I am 6ft1inches and 145lbs. I feel this is still too much. I went from 175lbs Vegan to 145lbs Rawvegan....I would like to be around 130lbs...with muscles and strength....i am noticing how part of me is not allowing me to reach this goal due to family and society pressures...i must over come this BS.....part of me says "Darrick you better not go down in weight too much or you'll hear more of the skinny comments"......I will perservere and do what I feel is right for me.in due time.

My latest answer to people who say things is...."you are correct, I am going to start building my muscles more"...and than remind them It takes one year to gain 5lbs of lean muscles if you really work at it.

I also received a lot of comments about being too skinny after going raw, but after my family, etc... saw how healthy I was eating, and that I was actually consuming a lot of food they quieted down. Also, the knowledge I have of food/diet helped quench their fears as well. It is that our society has become so obese as a whole that others are used to seeing people as being very heavy or overweight. That when they come in contact with someone at their ideal weight, they appear too skinny to them. I personally feel that one will find their homeostasis as far as their weight is concerned. I have been living the Raw Food lifestyle for 2.5yrs and my weight has not fluctuated at all, I initially lost 10lbs, but no matter how much or little I eat I have not gone up or down in weight. Your body will eventually find its balance, and as long as you are feeling well, that is all that matters. Outward comments of negativity, can be filtered out, and we can find inner-peace within ourselves, and a comfort in our skin.
