I have read many articles and posts on the web that Cacao is actually toxic and that the energy you feel from it is your body trying to rid itself of the toxin. http://www.living-foods.com/articles/toxiccacao.html Looking at the length of time and effort it takes to make the powder may lead some to think that it either shouldn't been eaten or should be used more as a spice than a main ingredient. Any thoughts or more information on this?
i'll drop in for a bunch of hugs and food, i need to be there some time this year to source carrob, and such a beautiful place to have a resterunt, well done. love jules
thanks :)
Honestly, I´ve tried quite a bit of cacao and this is by far the best ever, it has no bitter taste at all and I´ve never been a chocolate person :)
No idea about your question, what I do know is that it´s called criollo and that obviously the one I´m buying is organic. www.bigtreebali.com
Maybe when I´m ready to open I will make a general announcement, I´m just not a forum expert :)
This is the first time I give my opinion in a thread :)

Cacao is fermented, whilst it is fermenting the temperature of the pile of beans reaches temps much higher than 115 degrees. So does this mean that cacao is not raw?
Or is it true that because the high temp comes from a natural process, and not cooking that it is ok and still raw?
Unfermented and fermented cacao have different enzymes etc active and not active, their chemical make up is quite changed during fermentation. And unfermented beans are a mauve-purple inside, and said to be slightly hallucinogenic. They are fermented to make them taste more choclatey, the unfermented cacao is supposed to taste quite bitter (even more bitter than fermented)
I am undecided because I have had such a mixed reaction to it, sometimes I feel shite, sometimes very nice indeed...
What do you think?

I think we need to go down to the Amazon and pick our own cacao fruit down personally.
But until then, I saw there are cacao pods for sale online, and plants for sale that you can grow at home. I think cacao is on the way, I mean, a cacao tree in your house? Who's gonna stop that from happening. The Hershey police?
i eat large amounts of cacao and have never had any ill effects. i don't buy it being toxic. for some maybe it's not the best but for me it's wonderful. i feel i have a very close relationship with my body and rely on my own intuition when it comes to any food. i've read that eating 20 cacao beans is totally toxic. all of that talk seems pretty silly to me, since i've eaten much much more in a sitting and been perfect.
Cacao is a Drug/Medicine/Plant spirit that should be related to as such. The mistake of overeating it as a "Superfood" has caused many problems to most people I know. If you listen to your body, you MAY be able to use it in moderation as an enjoyable experience...
I have made amazingly "Ayurvedicly-balanced" Raw Chocolates that I honor now and then & share at festive times & events. Never deny the addictive potential of ODing on Cacao! Cacao on its own always seems to give me a headache or stomachache -however, when combined alchemically it is a whole other story...
hiai was told that in ozzy people are getting cats to eat coffee beans then shit them out, they are then cleaned a little before making a $25 cup of coffee.well it's a mad world.
im in the middel of a health and life jurny, my self, i think there is allot in what you say, i love cacao, but only with other good foods, that could change at any time. most of my life is spent on my own going as deeply into my hart as poss, the time is spent in nature sounds only, and just going as deeply into my hart as i can, i've done it for many years concistantly, for me it's the purest food i can get. lovejules
I've been doing some "research" on ear candling, and have found three different reports:
1) it's great, feels great, and really helps to clear out the sinuses/lymphs
2) it feels great, but that's just the warmth and it doesn't actually do anything...

I'm feeling deprived; I might have been a little too...early for these books. Sounds like they might be worth checking out though as I love a good children's book. Probably the right emotional level for me...
