To shave or not to shave?

While growing up I was always told that women needed to shave because it was more 'feminine' or that it was unclean to have hairy armpits or legs. While growing up I heard that it was French women that participated in growing out their hair. I asked a French friend about this and she said she has no idea where that idea came from and from her knowledge was not true. When I was in Sydney, I noticed that some women did not shave their armpits.

Okay at first, I thought it looked 'funny' because society has programed me to think that way, but not too long after I began to question whether or not it was bad. I have searched on the internet for other people's thoughts about women growing out their hair. In some cases both men and women thought it was disgusting that women didn't shave, others believed that the women should do whatever makes them happy.

I am just curious what people on here think. I am a firm believer that people should do whatever floats their boat in any and all aspects of life.

To the Raw Women:
Have you noticed a change in your shaving routine?
Is the hair growth faster/slower?
Do you think this has anything to do with a particular food that you are eating or product you are using?

To the Raw Men:
What is your opinion about women with hairy armpits or legs?
Would you date a women with hairiness? Or would you draw the line somewhere?

Mine is Braun, and it's like a million little tweezers spinning around to pull out your hair. I do my armpits, bikini line, and below the knee (the rest of my hair is blond) with it about once a week. However, the epilator is not for perfectionists or for people who can't take pain. After a while, though, it feels more like a tickle than anything.

I get my eyebrows waxed religiously. I wish I would've had my lower legs lasered. I shave them a few times a few since I usually wear pants, but everyday if I have a boyfriend.

I have thought about it, but how long has it really been around and what will be the affects in decades from now? I know doctors may say, "Nothing or mild side effects," but that isn't saying much when lasering hair is still "new."; ▶ Reply to This

people definately stare (mostly at the pit hair), both men and women; some do not hide their disapproval, BUT i'm in my mid 20's and have had no problem in the dating field whatsoever. in fact, i've been told by most that they are glad i don't shave my legs because they are soft, not stubbly or spikey. fortunately for me though, my body hair is very fine and pretty light in color...no thick black curly stuff.

as far as diet goes.... i couldn't tell you if my hair grows faster or slower when i'm raw, but my b.o. has definately improved! i even think it smells good.

bottom line, if you don't want to shave, go for it!
people may be caught off guard at first, but many find such confidence in a women attractive and sexy!; ▶ Reply to This

When I was at a point of supreme health, which I am not now, I noticed that it would actually hurt when I would shave my face. I could feel each hair that was severed and they were all aching and in pain together. I didn't want to give up shaving entirely, at the time, so I decided to reduced how often I would shave and that helped. If a lady wants to go without shaving I would try to accept it. It's not necessarily unclean to refrain from shaving, like some would say, but I feel it is mostly just looked upon as being unpleasant to look at by the general population and then they concluded that it was unclean because of that. Just like a mustache is looked at as being a little dirt on the lip.

A woman is much more than just whether or not she shaves. There is so much more that attracts a man and woman together. It may be something on the inside that makes people compatible. When you can feel the love overflowing from a heart center it is quite unique and may be the most attractive attribute I have yet seen.; ▶ Reply to This
