A New Earth + The Power of Now
Both of these books, by author Eckhart Tolle, are must reads.
Two years ago a raw food magazine interviewed me and asked me what my top 3 raw food books here. My first pick was The Power of Now. And although it has nothing to do with raw food specifically, it has everything to do with everything.
To make real magic happen in life, we first have to live in the present moment. And to get to that place, it's important that we go beyond our condition and stories.
One of the biggest reasons people don't do what they know is good for them is because their stories get in the way. Stories that are based on past experiences.
When I first read The Power of Now, I finally had an opportunity to understand why I was so identified with my ego. Since then (it's been 3 years) my thoughts have been reduced by at least 40% to 50%. How am I measuring that? I measure the level of thoughts I'm having with the amount of worry I carry. I've noticed that since I started watching my thoughts and noticing when I'm not in the present moment, that I've been able to slowly rid of my thoughts. It's the greatest gift I've ever been given.
This is more me sharing my enthusiasm for Eckhart's work and also encouraging you to check it out if you haven't.

"a new earth" is in all the airports now since being on oprahs book list, and since i'm a flight attendant is see it ALL THE TIME!! its awesome, theres at least one person on every flight i work reading that book.

Oprah is doing live webcasts with Eckhart Tolle talking in detail about A New Earth.
So far there have been two sessions (90 minutes each) and there are another 7 (I think) - they're held on Monday evenings (US time). The two discussions that have already been held can be downloaded from her website. (I think you can also subscribe via itunes).
It's fantastic having the content explained & discussed by the author!

I, too, have been following that online and it has been so educational! I even have a notepad sitting next to me when it's on so I can take notes... wonder if that's just the "student" in me? :-)

I read the "power of now" a few months ago and have to agree with Dhru. It had a tremendous impact on the way I view myself and by extension others as well. In a few words, the book is both practical and profound. I am definitely going to pick up "new earth" when I get a chance.

Hey D.. you cutie pie!
After my diagnosis of chronic leukemia, I called a friend that has been hiv positive since 1990. He is very healthy and has a very spiritual focus in his life. I asked him what I should do, read, what would help my immune system??
He told me 2 very important things:
1. Make Peace with the disease.. tell it" you can be here, just do not interfere with my life." You do not want to fight your own body.. unless you are forced to. I always come back to this advice.. to not focus on "cure" focus on health and making peace within your body and mind.
2. Read The New Earth and Power of Now by Ekart Tolle. both mind changing, life changing tomes.. I refer to the Power of now often.. it helps keep me focused on the now.. not the dead past or unlived future.
Hope that advice helps someone else facing chronic disease......helped me get on the right path.. led me here to all you raw folks and all this love and abundance!

I discovered "A New Earth" through your site, so I was more eager to buy it than any other Oprah Book Club selection. Well, I am profoundly touched! "Awakening" is really the perfect term for the feeling that I am finally fully present. For the first time ever, I was able to silence the thinking and meditate. I was also able to really make use of my power to heal myself and my son through energy healing. Of course, the book is not about this..... but because like you say it has everything to do with everything, It touched me just where I needed it. Amazing! Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
