I have been invited to a Christmas party this Saturday and I need to bring an appetizer to share. I would like to bring something raw so I have something to eat since I will be the only raw person there. What do you think would be the best recipe to make that will get the SAD eaters pumped?

I would say some sort of tart. This Christmas I'm thinking about make a banana tart. Very yummy filling.
Banana Tart
Filling
1 banana sliced into small rounds
8 Bananas processed until lightly chunky
4 tablespoon honey or agave (a little more can be added if needed)
2 table spoons cinnamon
Salt (to taste)
Set the sliced banana to the side and mix all the other ingredients together
Crust:
1 cup Almonds
1 cup Raisins
Pinch of salt
Teaspoon vanilla abstract
Coconut butter (very little: optional)
Put all ingredients into a food processor and process. Then, pat the crust inside a tart pan and then place in to the refrigerator and let set for 5-10 minutes while you work on the filling.
When the filling is done place it in the crust and set in the freezer for about 1 hour. Take out and then place your sliced bananas on top to make a nice decoration.

I usually do a quick stuffed Shiitake mushroom caps;
from the bottom to the top:
Mushroom cap
Guacamole (1 avocado, 1/2 clove garlic, 1/4 lime, juice only, pinch sea salt - increase ingredients by ratio as needed)
shredded carrots, marinated in sea salt
diced red onions
diced red bell peppers
The bitter (red onions), sour (lime from guac), and sweet (red bell peppers) blend very well together, and they are really easy to make. My problem stemmed from the fact that I didn't make enough, and they were gone before I knew it :-)
for a quick easy one that isn't ostentatiously raw how about zucchini hummus with crudites?
blend a couple of zucchini with garlic, lemon juice, tahini, paprika, ground coriander and cumin (it doesn't last well, so make it on the day) then either pile it onto big chunks of veg (like thick rounds of carrots and cucumber, quarters of bell peppers) or arrange piles of sticks around the pot of hummus. i use red and yellow peppers, cucumber, carrot, spring onion and so on. sprinkle some finely chopped red onion, parsley and olives or tomatoes on the top or some microgreens for garnish. whatever you take with you I hope you have a great party!
A pine nut tapenade is always good in shitake mushrooms too......Like this one...(and it's easy to transport)
2c italian olives, chopped
1c. raw pine nuts, ground
2 cloves garlic
1/4c. stone-ground mustard
1c. minced fresh basil, chives, cilantro, dill, tarragon
about 50-60 mushroos...stems removed.
I just pulse all ingredients in a food processor and stuff the mushroom caps, Dehydrate at 100 for about 7 hours or so.
I took these to Thanksgiving and they were a big hit!
I just had me some berries, so why not simply toss a bunch of nicely colored berries in a bowl? Maybe pour some agave over it, or some chocolate sauce...
Try this recipe for your party. It's great and no one knows that it's raw unless you tell them:) I took this to a Halloween party for an appetizer so I would have something to eat as well. Instead of making the apples into teeth you can just use slices. You may also want to include other fruits to dip as well.
You can't live on just an appetizer so for your sake I have given you 2 recipes. Both will go over well with anyone. You may not like people mixing your raw cheese with some cooked item from the party though, and they will.
-------------------------------------
Cheese (with Spring Onion)
2 cups of Sunflower Seeds (soaked)
1 cup of Pine Nuts
1 tablespoon Salt
Juice from 2 Lemons
1/3 cup raw Olive Oil
1 bunch of Green Onion, all except roots (diced)
In your Food Processor, process the sunflower seeds and the salt until mix becomes finest it will go. If it sticks to sides stop processing, open processor and scrape from sides
back into centre.
Then add lemon juice and the olive oil. Process again to make smooth. Scrape from sides if needed. Mixture should begin to "roll" as it moves around processor.
Add a little water slowly during this stage. Add only enough water to keep the mixture moving and rolling. Process until smooth, yet very thick.
Then add the green onion.
Process briefly to mix in and slightly break down the Green Onion.
Allow to stand 30 minutes, then enjoy! - note: If you taste it early the lemon taste should stand out. The lemon taste will die down after it sits a bit.

Blissimo!
Herbal Blend
1 cup fresh Parsley, tightly packed
1 cup fresh Basil, tightly packed
4 cloves Garlic (pressed)
4 Dates
1/2 tbsp Salt
1 tbsp Raw Apple Cider Vinegar
Veggie Mix
1 Large Onion, cut into short very thin strips
1/2 head of cauliflower, florets only, broken into tiny pieces
1/2 large Courgette, sliced very thin and quartered
10 Tomatoes, seeds and whole centre removed, and then cut into strips
2 Avocados cut into small chunks
1 teaspoon Salt
Make the Herbal blend first. Be patient, start with just the fresh herbs in your Food Processor. Get them to chop and mix evenly. Add the Dates and other Herbal Blend
ingredients to keep things moving. Process for a while, until you get a thick green cream.
In a large bowl, mix the Herbal Blend and the Veggie Mix together by hand.
Allow to stand at room temperature for 30 minutes then Enjoy!
Nori rolls are really easy to make, or you can arrange a roll-it-yourself platter. Anything goes, but you might include the following:
- Matchstick carrots
- Sliced avocado
- Sliced cucumber
- Lotus root or jicama
- Sliced daikon radish
- Any kind of sprouts
- Thinly sliced pepper
- Shredded cabbage, or other greens
- Any other veggies that strike your fancy at the time (or anything you've got lying around)
- Raw cream cheese (if you've got the time)
- Ginger
- Nori, pre-cut into simple strips
- Tamari/nama shoyu or other sauce for dipping
For your non-raw friends, you might also bring along:
- Prepared sticky rice with a rice paddle
- Slices of fish, shrimp, anything else that might appeal to them
They're easy to make. Just lay your ingredients out in a row, and roll up with your hands. No special skills required. I'm living in Japan now, and I eat these constantly! I think it'd be great to bring something more substantial to a party, so that you aren't stuck feeling hungry after the crudites on the often-meager veggie platter are gone!
I have never dried them myself, but in France and Italy you can buy them already dried (at what temperature I don't know). It was awhile since I ate them (before I went raw).
Lost is same insanely good storytelling, character development. I love how they spend time flashing back to show you the character's demons and how the island is bringing them to face what used to be a big thing for them. Plus, you never know what...
Make this, it is my new favorite thing.
SALAD
-head of green cabbage, shredded
-4-5 green onions/scallions, sliced (all of white part and most of green part)
-1 avocado, diced
-2 ears of corn with kernals shaved off (some corn is better to eat ra...
