Give it to me Raw

So I was talking to all these raw foodists today (at my first raw food event) and they were all talking about how fruit isn't so great for you because it's high in sugar and it's acidic. Now I do believe this when it comes to hybridized fruits like watermelon because the chemistry of the natural plant is messed with....but I mean is this really true. The fruit comes from so far away if you live in Canada, so it's not as high in nutrition. How is it that something so good can now be labeled as bad for you? It seemed to be more about high sugar fruits.

What do you eat for fruits on a daily basis....and just to be clear I am considering fruit as the sweet "vegetables" since their is no technical definition.

Is it true bananas have seeds but the ones we get are hybridized and overly sweet?

Someone explain this to me before I just cut out all food since I am getting so many mixed messages.

Is their certain fruits that are OK to buy non-organic.

Sorry if this has been brought up already.

and durian rider i know what you're going to say...but let me have it anyways.

P.S. I also started a goal to try every single type of fruit before I pass on...one new fruit a day.

That means Richard from the vid isn't meeting his needs as he says he only drinks water and breathes a lot of fresh air (not in eactly those words).
Personally, I don't believe we need a minimum amount of calories everyday to meet our needs.

I'm a bit suspicious of Richard's claim that he is only drinking water. Have you seen him shirtless? I can't believe a physique like that can be maintained by sunshine, water and fresh air alone. If it's true, I'm sure there are many nutrition biochemists who would love to meet him.

eat fruits on an empty stomach, only combine them ever, with greens, eat melon alone or eat it alone...you will only find fruits acidifying if they are miscombined....

i eat3- 4 bananas a day,2-3 apples and or a cup or blueberries...sometimes i may have a kiwi or 2,and i never get an acid stomach.however, when i ate high fruit and greens i got an acid stomach alot,so now i eat lower fruit, moderate fat, greens sprouts.

True true Neety, great advice & also unripe fruit.

Eating on a dehydrated system will also compromise fruit digestion

I do really best on 30 bananas a day

yah well that's a huge factor since 98% of the fruit i can find is unripe and tastes like garbage. It suuucks!

fruit is alkalizing when digested. meat and milk and grains are acidifying. there's nothing wrong with fruit it's a natural part of our diet. you can debate how much to eat but to not eat it at all i'd say is mad.

I barely eat fruit in the winter, just a few apples a day, because it's not in season. Dairy is highly alkalinizing if it is fermented and if you have the type of metabolism that can digest dairy. Dairy is high in the alkaline minerals calcium, phosphorous, potassium and magnesium. There is a reason that in ayurveda dairy is considered among the most sattvic of foods.

"Dairy is considered controversial these days, but the yoga tradition insists on the value of a wholesome food freely given by the cow. One needs to use the highest quality organic fresh dairy to benefit from its sattvic qualities. Milk, butter, clarified butter (ghee), fresh home-made cheese (paneer), whey and fresh yogurt (especially lassi) are all recommended. Traditionally, if a yogi is doing advanced practices, the dairy provides needed lubrication, grounding, and nourishment. Dairy, along with fruit, have been described as the epitome of the sattvic or yogic diet"

Hi, fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, basically EVERYTHING you can buy in the supermarket has been insanely hybridized. Our bodies are adapted to diet of unhibridized wild food. The best thing you can do is move back to nature as much as possible . .. but that isn't for everyone.
In the mean time, try to eat heirloom varieties of fruits bought at your local farmer's market, berries and apples and pears.
