Give it to me Raw

Whenever I do a smoothie, be it fruit or green, it kinda sits in my stomach and I feel heavy, even if I make it not a big 1, with just 1 or 2 fruits still it sits there sometimes for hours, on the other hand if I eat the fruit raw feel very light, should I stop with smoothies then and just eat the green in more salads and just more fresh fruits?

Chewing - and chewing well - is an important part of the digesting process.

RawZi, to be honest, that combo I'd rather eat in a salad, I enjoy it more that way, but what did you mean "using the tomato first for the antioxidants to protect the rest"?

Marte&Miranda always drink it, I'll try chewing it even though I cant really see how a smoothie can be chewed :P.

Another thing I thought about is if you use frozen stuff in you smoothie? Cold stuff slows down digestion.

Helpful video, thanks a lot! about freezing, I don't like the idea of freezing my food, I can see how its not as bad as cooking but it doesn't seem right either, I believe we are supposed to eat our food fresh, also read a study which said that eating frozen fruit damage the stomach, gives it a kind of "freezing burns" and the fact that the water inside the fruit are frozen makes digestion hard(or something like that, don't rememeber exactly).

Freezing your food has the same affect as burning it.
Ever put your foot on the bath tap and thought it was hot only to realise you were hot and it was cold. The extreme cold feels the same burning sensation as the extreme heat. They are opposite, but the same - the complement of each other. ie The Ying and the Yang.

Tried chewing it, helped a lot but it still kinda sits there also it filles me up much faster, for example I could eat a banana, few dates, apple&pear whole without much problem, but in a smoothie i gotta divide in half or eat it slowly in phases to get some space inside.

hey peeps,
this is really simple. Smoothies with avos in OK.
Banananas are starchy and need the digestive juices relevant for breaking down starches and they are released in the corner of your mouth where your jaw meets. Chewing obviously stimulates this organ to release the digestive juices ie your saliva. I think the scientists call it amalase.
So blending banananas makes no sense they need to be eaten by chewing not blended into a liquid and then chewed. Thats just plain crazy - dont do it, save yourself the bother, no matter who tells you! - trust me - theyre talking crap!

I dont eat them anymore, even though there lovely, as they dont grow round here.
If I needed them they'd be growing here..anyway

Remember how wolfing down a portion of chips (french fries) made you feel - as you say Tal it just sits there. well thats because its undigested and cant be digested without your amalase in your saliva.

So there you have it.
